Mod Coupe Meeting Monday July 24th

There will be a meeting for the Mod Coupe division on Monday July 24th 2017. The meeting will be held in the CNS beer garden and will begin at 6:30PM. The 2017 CNS Rules Committee

The members of the Colorado National Speedway Rules Committee for 2017 are as follows:

Mission Statement: To provide our Competitors and Participants with a safe, exciting, and enjoyable experience during all racing events at Colorado National Speedway (“CNS”) by keeping the racing safe, competitive, and economical in a fair environment for all Competitors and Participants in all divisions, through the use of a committee decision making process. The Rules Committee has been formed to allow car owners and racers an avenue to discuss and submit ideas or seek clarification pertaining to any and all written rules. The Committee will decide by a majority vote whether a new rule or change to an existing rule should be considered. If considered, the item will be discussed by the Committee, evaluated on its overall financial impact on both competitors and the division as a whole, then voted on and passed or not passed according to the majority rule. Each Member shall have one vote. The Committee shall consist of several Members who must be either CNS Drivers (registered and active), Crew, or Team Owners; appointed based on racing experience and knowledge of the sport. The Track Owner, the Head Tech Official, and other individuals may be included as appropriate.

Pro Trucks and Spring Loaders

The CNS Rules Committee has discussed the use of Spring Loaders in the Pro Truck division and have determined that Spring Loaders will be outlawed at the end of the 2017 season. Any Pro Trucks that are currently using Spring Loaders can continue to use them for the remainder of the 2017 season but will not be able to use them in 2018 and beyond.

Super Stock Rules on Sheet Metal Thickness & Gutting

The CNS Rules Committee have been discussing the following two rules for the Super Stock division. 1-5  No lightening of the body components, hood, trunk, doors, inner panels, fenders, and roof, except clearance for roll bars on front doors. Aftermarket fiberglass or plastic nose & tail sections are optional. Rules Committee Decisions on Super Stock Penalties

After a formal appeal and review the CNS rules committee has overturned the penalties on the Super Stock cars #60, and #99s for the July 2nd event.  There will be a upcoming rules clarification regarding sheet metal thickness that will address this issue. The penalty for the #49 Super Stock will not be overturned as it was determined the car displayed excessive gutting of the vehicle.

Number 49 Super Stock Formally Appeals Penalty

Super Stock car #49 has formally appealed the penalty the team received during the Sunday July 2nd event at Colorado National Speedway. The CNS rules committee is evaluating the appeal and will be announcing a decision soon.

Super Stock Rule 17-2 Clarification

There will be a rule clarification that will be added to the Super Stock Rule 17-2 and it will read… “Locked or open rear-end only, limited slip and Posi-traction not allowed. No racing components allowed. Mini-spools will be allowed”.

Super Stock 99 DQ Overturned

The #99 Super Stock appealed the disqualification for the 06-24-2017 event. It has been determined that the disqualification will be been overturned due to the fact that the rules committee has decided to clarify Super Stock Rule 17-2.

Announcement: GAM Division at CNS

Drivers: Due to the extensive amount of laps run by the GAM division over the last few races, CNS will permit all GAM cars racing this weekend to purchase four (4) new tires for this weekend’s race (June 24th, 2017) ONLY. Please note that this is NOT a rule change; the option to purchase and race on four new tires applies to the June 24th event only. Any questions, please call John Witthar.
