The Ownership of Colorado National Speedway is happy to announce new and exciting changes for the 2011 season. Here is a glimpse of some of the highlights:We will host a Monster Truck event on Father’s day, Sunday June 19th. Along with the Monster Truck Show we will also have a points race for a CNS division (to be determined) in a combined Sunday afternoon show, following the regular scheduled Saturday night event.
CNS will once again be offering online-ticket sales on our website at www.coloradospeedway.com. This feature will be available for all 2011 events within the next few days. In addition to on-line ticket sales we are introducing the “CNS RACE CASH” gift card. This gift card can be purchased at the speedway business office and can be used for the purchase of tickets, concessions and novelty items at the speedway wherever credit cards are accepted. These gifts cards will make a great present for all of the race fans in your life!
PIT SIDE NEWS:
On the pit side CNS has teamed up with My Laps/AMB and will be utilizing transponders in all CNS divisions with the exception of the Figure 8’s. CNS competitors please remember to get your order in for your transponders as you will need them for your first event. A “live” scoring system computer will also be connected to the Pit Tower for official use. The information will be displayed just as it appears in the main scoring tower.
There will no longer be an age limit to get into the pits. Children will now be able enter the pit entrance and enjoy the events for the first time in CNS history. The costs will be as follows: CNS Members 14 and up will be $25.00(standard member rate), Non-Members 14 and up will be $35.00 (standard non-member rate) and Children 13 and under will be $25.00 and must be under adult supervision at all times. Please help us make this a positive change by monitoring your children and keeping them safe at all times.
We will be trying out former turn 2 and Jr. Flagman Mark Bremkamp as our 2011 assistant flagman. Mark has been flagging for several years in turn 2 and has earned a shot at being on the flag stand in a continued learning capacity for 2011.
In an effort to enhance the show CNS will be combining the Grand American Modified’s and the Modified Coupes into one division now known as the CNS Modified’s. This should make for some very exciting racing.
TIME SCHEDULE:
The starting times in April and October will be moved up 2 hours. This means the trophy dash and National Anthem will begin at 4:00 p.m. during these months rather than the standard 6:00 p.m. The pit gates will open at 9:00 am during this time period.
FOOD & BEVERAGE:
Announcing the opening of the “Midway Bar”. A new full service bar serving a wide variety of alcoholic beverages and drink specials will take the place of the old “Snack Shack”. All items previously sold in Snack Shack will be available in the main concessions building just across the Midway.
CNS has done an extensive renovation of the main concessions building, including pizza. Expanded to five registers that will serve all food & beverage items rather than having individual lines for specialty items. New equipment has been added to the serving and kitchen areas with the goal of eliminating long lines and wait times for our customers.
CNS will no longer allow outside food and beverage items to be brought into the main grandstand side, with the exception of clear plastic factory sealed water bottles in a soft-sided bag or cooler 16"x 16"x 8" or smaller. CNS has put off this decision for several years and remained one of the only professional sports venues in Denver that continued to allow outside food. Unfortunately the rising operational costs have forced CNS to implement this new policy for 2011. However, CNS will be offering many new and exciting food specials throughout the year. These specials will include outside food sponsors such as Chick-Fil-A, Quaker Steak & Lube and Famous Dave’s BBQ which will provide specialty items to be featured in our Diner on various nights at a discounted price. We have also added to our standard weekly menu options and will announce future specials on the website and signage at the main gate.
A new addition to our Beer Gardens will be the installation of satellite television and flat screen TV’s. Professional sports programming and NASCAR events will be featured throughout the season.
Diner Burrito will now be serving Beer (Corona & Miller products) in addition to an expanded Mexican food menu.
GENERAL IMPROVEMENTS:
The main grandstands are receiving a much needed facelift. Replacement of broken seating and the addition of a new paint job should greatly improve our fans overall experience and comfort. We want to thank
“All Aspect Painting” for their assistance in this process.
On the Pit-side the addition of a new area of parking stalls is underway on the north side of the staging lane. Recycled asphalt, improved lighting and speakers are being added to allow for parking expansion and should be completed within the next few weeks.
Don’t forget…practice begins this Saturday March 19th and continues on Saturday March 26th for test and tune. Pit passes will be $20.00 for everyone, including children.
Our “Opening Event” will be held April 2nd Featuring the Late Models, Sportsman, Super Stocks and Figure 8’s.
