Rules Amendment for USLMA legal engines participating in 2010 CNS Late Model events.

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

To: All CNS Late Model competitors

CNS Management has determined that due to the increasing performance of engines built solely for use in USLMA competition the following rules amendment is effective immediately.

Competitors that choose to utilize the USLMA legal engine in CNS competition in 2010 will only be allowed to participate in a maximum of five events. An event will be defined as a car, driver or team that practices and competes for a position in a 2010 CNS Late Model A-feature event. The USLMA legal engine will not be legal for participation in the 2010 Challenge Cup event. All competitors utilizing USLMA legal engines will be required to disclose to the Race Director the use of the USLMA legal engine and adhere to all other 2010 CNS Late Model rules including a 50 pound weight penalty. In addition, all competitors that choose to participate with a USLMA legal engine will not be awarded CNS championship points.

cns-logoFor CNS, 2009 meant a lot of things. We launched a new website with easier access to race results and recaps. Our social network went online, giving fans the opportunity to follow the action blow by blow from anywhere with a cell phone or a computer. Drivers, crew members, officials and even fans learned to bring an umbrella with them wherever they go. Most importantly we proved yet again, that CNS is the best darn short track in the state of Colorado and maybe even the USA.

Memo to All Race Teams,

We at Colorado National Speedway hope you are all having a wonderful winter and holiday season.  Believe it or not, the 2010 race season is just around the corner. No season would be complete without the annual Colorado Oval Track Trade Show. As usual, we will have a booth at the show where you will be able to purchase the following:

  • 2010 NASCAR License (online NASCAR license renewals are available if you were a NASCAR member in 2009 @ nascarmembers.com)
  • CNS Car Registration and Number Form ($75 per registration) Any team changing drivers mid-season will be required to purchase a new number for that new driver, so please keep that in mind when choosing your numbers. There will be no Duplicate numbers allowed, as was the case last year. The number will stay with the driver all season per the 2010 rule book.
  • Rules books can be printed on-line after January 15, 2010 at (www.coloradospeedway.com).  A limited number of printed copies will be available at the show.
  • Pit Stall Reservations ($75.00)

Note: The 2009 competitor’s numbers and pit stalls will be held until Jan 24, 2010 this year, not March 1st as it has been in past years.  Therefore, please plan to reserve your numbers and pit stalls prior to or during the Trade Show.  If you are not able to attend the show, you may phone ahead and pay for your numbers and/or stalls by credit card.  PLEASE NOTE: All 2010 Numbers and Pit Stalls not reserved will become available on a first come first served basis on January 25, 2010.

We look forward to seeing you at the show!

Colorado National Speedway honored for innovative initiatives

Colorado National Speedway was recognized by NASCAR during the Whelen All American Series Banquet week held in Charlotte, North Carolina in November, 2009 for its cutting edge marketing and communications programs as well as its innovative cost containment measures through rules management and fan base value added pricing.

CNS was considered the standard by which local short tracks around the country should map their business models from marketing and cost management perspectives.  The enhanced web and media communications implemented in 2009 were recognized as “cutting edge” within the local NASCAR short track family.

Further, Colorado National Speedway’s continued efforts to minimize the ever growing expenses to each racer through extensive research in the development of competitive and cost effective rules packages was acknowledged and praised by NASCAR personnel and peer track management teams.

The ownership and management of Colorado National Speedway wishes to sincerely thank all who have worked hard and provided forward thinking ideas throughout this growing process for our facility.  In addition, we acknowledge that none of this recognition would be possible without our loyal fans. Without their support we would not be able to continue to provide a premier racing facility in our area.

Finally, Colorado National Speedway would like to acknowledge our outstanding drivers and race teams.  We continue to provide our fans with the most competitive teams and strong car counts in each of our racing divisions.  We certainly know that in these tough economic times continuing to support your love for racing becomes increasingly more difficult each year.  We truly appreciate the support you have provided the speedway and understand that you have a choice when it comes to spending your dollars.  Thank you to all who continue to help make Colorado National Speedway a success!
