Tonight, August 15th marked the 11th of 13 Camping World West races of the 2009 season. 22 West cars made it out to Colorado National Speedway to race on our 3/8ths oval. If you aren’t paying close attention, you can easily confuse a West car for any of our own Late Models, the difference is simply a larger, heavier engine and a heavier chassis.

This Saturday Colorado National Speedway is set to bring one of the most spectacular shows of the 2009 season.

Camping World West, the regional series dating back to 1954 is coming to our very own 3/8ths paved oval.
The current point leader Jason Bowles will be on deck to defend his point lead, along with a field of around 20 of the fastest West cars this side of the Mississippi river.

The event will be broadcast on Speed later this week (check local listings for date and time) so be prepared to smile for the camera!

As if this national event wasn't enough, we at CNS are prepped to bring you the Sportsman, Figure 8s, Super Modified and the CRAAAAAZY buses.

You're not gonna want to miss it. You've Gotta Be Here!

hults-8-8-2009The 2009 Colorado National Speedway season is well under way. With no less than 8000 fans packing the grandstands night after night, the drivers are under a lot of pressure to perform, and perform they have!  97 points separate the top 5 drivers in the Rocky’s Autos Late Models division. Cris Muhler stands on top with Bruce “The Moose” Yackey a mere 28 points behind. And it’s a tight battle between Hults, Avants and Smith with only 8 points separating them. A technical penalty has taken Darren Robertson out of the race for points but it clearly hasn’t taken his mind off the competition as he continues to show the crowd what he can do behind the wheel.

Rocky's Autos Late Models

As the clouds loomed overhead at Colorado National Speedway, the fans packed the stands hoping that Mother Nature would finally take a break from her newfound Saturday rain shower tradition. It would appear that hoping wasn’t enough. For just as Cris Muhler took the lead over Ronnie Hults after a double file restart half way through the first Rocky's Autos Late Model A Main, the rain started to pour, ending the event. Thus, Cris Muhler took his 5th win of the season, holding on to his point lead for another night.

CNS Rainout Policy

Week after week, we at Colorado National Speedway do our absolute best to put on an amazing show. Between race officials, track operators, and media representatives, HUNDREDS of hours go into preparing the show each week. With this in mind, we hope you understand that we share your aggravation at every rained out event.

Our weather policy is to make sure that you get your money's worth. We put on at least half of our nightly scheduled events or your ticket can be redeemed for a future event. That is a guarantee we stand by and have made good on several times this season already.

This is the first time this season that we were able to put on more than 50% of the event (8 of our 12 scheduled events) before the show was called a rain out. Tickets from tonight's event cannot be redeemed for admission on a future date.

We understand that there are some of you who hadn't arrived early enough to see all 8 events. To those of you who fall into this category, we want to take this opportunity to remind you that the gates open every Saturday at 3pm and qualifiers start at 4:30pm. You are welcome to arrive as late or as early as is convenient for you, however in the event of a rain out, we cannot issue rainchecks based on the time you chose to arrive.

We'll be working hard this week (as always) to make sure that next week's show will be another great one here at Colorado National Speedway. See you then!
