avants-7-31-2010The Late Model 40 lapper started off with #39 Jack Nugent on the pole. #27 Roger Avants had the outside of row 1. #22 Chris Eggleston had the inside of row two with #42 Ronnie Hults on the outside. The action up front was about as intense as it gets as Eggleston and Hults rode on the heels of Roger Avants. Eggleston and Hults battled for 2nd through more than 20 laps  with Eggleston eventually making his way into 2nd place. Chris made multiple attempts on Roger's inside, nearly taking the lead again and again. We were led to believe Avants was simply toying with the young up-and-comer as he squashed his every attempt to take over the top spot. At the finish it was Roger Avants followed by Eggleston, Hults and #12 Bruce Yackey.

After taking the win for the Pro Truck A-Main #41 Bear Lynch was obviously feeling in the zone. Starting in 6th, he used the first 10 laps of the 30 lapper to position himself in 2nd place behind pack leader #8 Jeff Walbaum.   Walbaum wasn't in a "2nd place is good enough" kinda mood. He rode a faster line, maintaining a safe distance in front of Lynch. Bear Lynch made a few exciting dives for the lead but Walbaum drove faster and took a well deserved win.

5 laps into the 30 lap A Main the #1 of Happy Ferree and the #74 Cris Muhler got together coming through turn 4 and both were sent to the rear of the field. The green flag flew as #41 Bear Lynch and #7 Adam Deines commenced to duke it out, door handle to door handle in the front row. Muhler made it back out a bit late and had some work to do to catch up with the rest of the field. With 20 laps to go Dienes had the lead and Ferree had maneuvered his way to 6th place. Lynch and Deines shuffled back an forth for the lead. Lynch made a dash, taking a 6 car length lead and with only 10 laps to go, Ferree joined the fight for 2nd with Adam Deines. With only 3 laps to go Deines and Ferree got together going along the back stretch and Deines was forced to leave the track. The officials ruled the collision the fault of Happy Ferree (to the jeers of a dissatisfied crowd of Ferree fans) and he was sent to the rear of the field. Only 3 laps remained and Lynch stuck his lead for the win.

A battle raged up front between #15 Danny Medina and #66 Kyle Clegg. After a few laps of drag racing Medina took the lead. A mid field spin out involving #22 Chris Eggleston resulted in a double file restart. Medina pulled out front again, but another midfield pile up lined the field up one last time for a 4 lap shoot out. Medina took a comfortable lead over Clegg and #3 Wayne Barlock. At the checkered it was Danny Medina followed by Clegg, Barlock and #17 Terry Plumber.

#24 Joe Martinez made his way to the front of the pack by lap 3. #28 Vic Johnson and #52 Jared Wall trailed close behind. After a close call in the X Johnson broke down going into lap 5 bringing on a yellow flag. Johnson was towed off the track. When the raced resumed Martinez retook his lead and #4 Joe Matlock was glued to his tail. Matlock made multiple attempts on Joe's inside and outside. When it came down to the last lap Matlock had pulled up along Martinez' outside and the two drag raced through the checkered flag for a photo finish! Martinez took the win over Matlock by mere inches.
