Dan Savage Won the Battle, Ronnie Hults Won the War.

savage-win-10-2-2010A heated battle up front between Ed Vecchiarelli Sr and Darren Robertson, turned sour as the two made violent contact and left the night's event. After the wreck, the stage was set for Dan Savage and Chris Eggleston to duel for the win. Ronnie Hults, Roger Avants and Bruce Yackey all had a shot at the championship and all performed brilliantly. Hults and Yackey patiently navigated the field, opting to hold position instead of making risky passes. Avants on the other hand was the evening's hard charger, finishing the race in 3rd place after being sent to the rear of the field. In the end Dan Savage took the win for the evening's event. However, the slower more patient line won the season championship for Ronnie Hults.

Speedy's Autos Late Models
27 Late Models started the 100 lap Late Model Championship Race. As with races of this caliber, speedy and steady wins the race. Each driver must settle in for the long haul and be mentally and physically prepared to endure.

We saw some newer blood toward the front of the field to start the race. #11 Darren Roberston and #18 Ed Vecchiarelli were dueling for the lead until #37 Derek Murphey hit the wall at lap 18, bringing on caution. When the race resumed so did the duel between Ed and Darren. Ed Vecchiarelli maintained a slight lead, but Robertson was constantly on the look out for a weak spot to overtake his opponent. A little over half way through the 100 lapper, #74 Dan Savage joined the fray up front. Just then #55 Jesse Runkle spun out going along the front stretch. Green flag racing resumed and once again, the two guys up front went toe to toe, rubbing door handles as they bumped and scraped against each other lap after lap. Behind the leaders, Dan Savage and Chris Eggleston dueled for 3rd. Behind the race for 3rd #95 Dave Finely had a lock on 5th. Point leader #42 Ronnie Hults was sitting pretty in 6th.

2nd in points, #27 Roger Avants went to the pits early on and restarted his run from the rear of the field. Impressively, Avants had maneuvered his way back to 10th with only 15 laps to go!

Just then, a sudden, devastating collision between our leaders Ed Vecchiarelli and Darren Robertson forced them both to drop out of the main event.

With only 5 laps to go, the 27 Late Models had been whittled down to only 11. That's right 16 cars crashed or broke down and left the Main Event. In an amazing turn of events, Roger Avants who had previously started at the rear of the field had suddenly passed Ronnie Hults for 3rd place! After Chris Eggleston left the track with mechanical problems Dan Savage and Dave Finley went at it lap after lap until the checkered flag waved for Savage. Finley finished 2nd followed by Roger Avants and Ronnie Hults. Hults took the season championship.

22-66-hugRMLRA Legends
#22 Chris Eggleston used the first 2 laps to shoot to 3rd from his 6th place start. A spin out in turn 2 brought on caution and a double file restart. #18 Kyle McCartney had the pole with #66 Kyle Clegg on the outside. McCartney, Clegg and Eggleston fought for the lead in tight formation for the next few laps with Eggleston taking the top spot. Meanwhile, #3 Wayne Barlock moved into 5th from a start in 23rd - dead last. At lap 13 #43 David Johnson spun out and was black flagged. Only a few laps later, Barlock moved into 3rd, blowing the doors off the competition. Eggleston stuck his lead for the win. Clegg took 2nd along with the Legend season championship.

evans-cheers-10-2-2010ERA Super Modified
A violent collision between turns 1 and 2 took point leader #40 Harry Stone out of the race only moments after the green flag flew. #14 Joe Gallegos was leading the pack when racing resumed but he broke down coming through turns 3 and 4 and pulled into the in-field. #33 Chris Sheil took over the lead but #11 Nick Haygood was close behind in his Sprint car. Haygood continued to gain on Sheil while #3 Harold Evans was gaining on him! The crew hit lapped traffic at lap 22. Evans maneuvered his way past Haygood and Sheil into a commanding lead. Evans took the win followed by Sheil and Haygood. Evans is our unofficial 2010 ERA Super Modified Champion!

Sheds-R-Us Super Stocks
When you get a field of 28 eager Super Stock drivers together for the final race of the season, you also get a caution laden start to the main event. #46 Lightning Rick Lothert attempted to reel in #17 Jeremy Barclay through the final, clean 15 laps of the A Main Event. Barclay stuck his lead for the win. Lothert took 2nd and the season championship.
