Chris Eggleston sweeps Ride 9-11 night at CNS
Saturday, 27 August 2011 00:00
(Dacono, CO - 08-27-2011) On a special night that honored those lost on September 11, 2001, NASCAR up and coming star Chris Eggleston dominated the action on the track. Chris won his heat race and main event in BOTH the Gillett Vet Late Models as well as the RMLRA Legends division.Gillett Vet Clinic Late Models
#22 Chris Eggleston started up front in the 40 lap Gillett Vet Late Model main event and quickly built a 10 car length lead over 2nd place #66 Darren Bucklen. #11 Darren Robertson and #27 Roger the "ice man" Avants battled for 3rd place yet eventually Robertson secured that spot and began to hunt down Bucklen. Last weeks main event winner #31 Rick Smith dove inside Robertson to move into 3rd place as Eggleston extended his lead to over a straightaway. By the end of the race Eggleston simply coasted to the finish as he had a massive 5 second lead over Bucklen who took second. Rick Smith was 3rd, Darren Robertson was 4th and #27 Roger Avants grabbed the final spot in the top five.
Qualifying race winners: #66 Darren Bucklen & #22 Chris Eggleston
Pair A Dice Interior Finishes Sportsman
At the start of the Sportsman main event the question on everyone's mind was… can anyone beat #98 Lee Kemmit? Kemmit has dominated the sportsman division this season in his GTI Dodge. By lap 3 Kemmit grabbed the lead from teammate #6 Tommy Roe. There were some new names up front this week as both #45 Grant Simpson and #9 Dalton Hewitt both looked fast and ran near the front for the bulk of the main event. Yet once again Lee Kemmit took home the trophy and extended his point lead. #6 Tommy Roe finished 2nd, #84 Bruce Borchardt was 3rd, #46 Eric Blackard came in 4th and #45 Grant Simpson rounded out the top five.

Picture: As the Figure 8 division lined up for the trophy dash the track was filled with motorcycle riders from the annual Ride 9-11 bike ride that honors those lost on 9-11.
ERA SuperModifieds
The rocket-fast ERA supermodifieds treated the CNS fans to a great open wheel feature event. #02 Johnny Pickard and #33 Chris Sheil battled for the lead with #2 Richie Castor Jr and #3 Harold Evans right behind. There was a scary moment when #26 Brian Pacheco got sideways in turn three and spun into the infield narrowly missing hall of fame photographer Joe Starr. Yet on the track nobody could catch Pickard who won the race. Chris Sheil finished 2nd, Castor 3rd, and Evans was 4th.
RMLRA Legends
24 Legend cars lined up for the Ride 9-11 main event, #22 Chris Eggleston and #06 Mike Gallegos filled out the front row. It was clear that Eggleston was hungry to get back in victory circle as he jumped out to an early 5 car length lead. With 15 laps to go the crowd moved to the edge of their seat as 4th place car #14 Terry Plummer spun in turn 2 and the entire field scrambled to avoid him. When the race resumed #22 Chris Eggleston and #58 Kyle Ray battled for the lead with Eggleston maintaining his position. After several cautions and one red flag the race had to finish with a green, white, checker. Eggleston won the race with Kyle Ray on his tail. #66 Kyle Clegg started the race in the last row but worked his way all the way to the front to grab 3rd place. #8 Jon Krizman was 4th and #3 Wayne Barlock Jr. took 5th.
Qualifying race winners: #22 Chris Eggleston & #06 Mike Gallegos
A Comfort Shack Figure 8's
A great field of Figure 8's thrilled the crowd with near miss after near miss at the center of the "X". Nick Martinez in the bright blue #10m jumped out to an early lead over #24 Smokin' Joe Martinez. Third place was occupied by #15 Jereme Wall but unfortunately left the race with mechanical problems halfway through. As the battle for the lead heated up between the Martinez brothers #03 Luke Zike hesitated and then entered the X just as the leaders came through, Nick Martinez dove low to avoid Zike but clipped the 03 and Martinez got airborne. Nick was okay but sadly his night was over. The best battle on the track was for third place between #52 Wally Wall, #50 Justin Mckeachie, #17 Harry Livermore Jr., #28 Vic Johnson and #81 Dave Smith. Yet in the end it was point leader "Smokin" Joe Martinez who cruised to the win followed by #23 Big Al Duran.
