#8 Jeff Walbaum battles #6 Tommy Roe in route to winning the 50 lap main event at CNS 10-22-2011 (Starr photo)
(Dacono, CO 10-22-2011) On a night that crowned the remaining champions for the 2011 season, not only did the racers put on a great show for the CNS fans but a lot of money was raised to support the fight against breast cancer. Lee Kemmit in the Sportsmans, Roger Avants in the Pro Trucks, Kyle Clegg in the Legends, Mark Sopr in the Grand American Modifieds, and Gary Land in the Mod Coupes all lifted their championship trophies high as the 2011 racing season at CNS came to a close.

#6 Tommy Roe, #46 Eric Blackard, #98 Lee Kemmit, #84 Bruce Borchardt and #8 Jeff Walbaum all elected to start at the rear of the field for the 50 lap feature event in an effort to raise money for the Susan G Komen foundation. Each car that these drivers could pass would raise money for the fight against breast cancer. And when the race started the 5 in the back quickly began to work through the field. #43 Stan Griffen maintained the lead for over half of the race but with 21 laps to go #8 Jeff Walbaum who started all the way back in 15th position took the lead when Griffen slowed on a yellow flag restart. By lap 40 all 5 of the cars who elected to start in the rear of the field had now moved into the top 5. With just a dozen laps to go #6 Tommy Roe worked his way around Walbaum but Jeff wouldn't go down easy as he daringly dove under Roe to regain the lead. At the finish line it was Walbaum, Kemmit, Roe, Borchardt, and Blackard and a lot of money was raised for a great cause.

#27 Roger "the ice man" Avants had already locked up the 2011 CNS Pro Truck track championship and it was a good thing for Roger as he was involved in an early altercation only 1 lap into the 50 lap feature event. Roger was able to continue but no such luck for #11 Stevie Johnson who suffered big damage when he ran into Avants. Heat race winner #36 Matt "the pebble" Burton found a solid groove and led the field for the first portion of the race. 2nd place in points #32 Mark Neff had moved up to 2nd in the race right behind Burton and appeared to be closing in by lap 20. Halfway through the race Neff dove under Burton to make a pass but got sideways coming out of turn 4 thrilling the fans. Burton wasn't going to give an inch and maintained the lead as the two of them were putting on a heck of a show for the CNS faithful. Late in the race #34 Rudy Vanderwal spun down the front straight and brought out the yellow flag. On the restart Neff was able to get by Burton but crafty veteran Roger Avants was now on Neff's tail. Avants pushed Neff hard in the final laps but couldn't get by Neff who took the checkered. Avants won the championship and finished 2nd in the 50 lap feature. In 3rd was #36 Matt Burton, #34 Rudy Vanderwal was 4th, and #07 Chris Leaf capped off the top 5.

RMRLA Legends
The Legends cars thrilled the CNS fans on Championship Night II as the top 5 cars in the main event all battled furiously for the win. Early in the race it was #08 Jace Hansen who seemed to be the car to beat but then #66 Kyle Clegg forced his way to the front. #22 Chris Eggleston and #8 Jon Krizman were also in the hunt for the win. But it was the #58 of Kyle Ray who dove low under Clegg to grab the lead late in the race. Ray hung on to win and Clegg came in second which was just enough to give him the 2011 track championship over Ray who finished 2nd in points. 3rd place in the main event went to #08 Jace Hansen, 4th place went to #22 Chris Eggleston and #8 Jon Krizman rounded out the top five.

Sunoco Modifieds
A very large field of Grand American Modifieds and Mod Coupes lined up to race in the final CNS Modified event of the 2011 season. In 2011 the Mod Coupes and the GAM's were combined and the combination proved to be very exciting with both GAMs and Mod Coupes winning feature events. It was the final race of the season and the drivers were giving it their all, the first few laps of the race were marred with several yellow flags and even a red flag as both #20 Rich Bubak and #95 Dave Finley were involved in separate crashes. With Finley out of the race #1 Jay Fields led the remaining laps are took the win. Carl Vair in the bright red #45 Mod Coupe won the Coupe division finishing 1st but was disqualified in tech, handing the victory over to Darren Robertson in the beautiful 09 mod coupe. The top five finishers in the GAM division were #1 Jay Fields, #4 2011 track champ Mark Sopr, #44 Justin Case, #02 Sammy Gallo, and #52 figure 8 ace Jared Wall. The top five in the coupes were #09r Darren Robertson, #46 Eric Blackard, #55 Coupe Track Champ Gary Land, #18 Dean Carr, and #07 Drew Utecht.
