#45 Grant Simpson tries to hold off race winner #98 Lee Kemmit

(05-26-2012 - Dacono, CO) Lee Kemmit in the #98 Dodge won yet another main event maintaining his stranglehold on winner's circle for the Sportsman division. In the Pro Trucks #07 Chris Leaf landed in winner's circle as did #33 Bear Lynch in the Super Stocks. #3 Harold Evans piloted his supermodified to the win in the first ERA event of the season at CNS.

Pair-A-Dice Interior Finishes Sportsman
Lee Kemmit takes the checkered flag at CNS (Starr photo)Grant Simpson from Pueblo Colorado in the beautiful black and yellow #45 Sportsman led the first portion of the Pair-A-Dice Interior Finishes Sportsman main event, yet #8 Jeff Walbaum who had set quick time began to  track down Simpson and had pulled up on his bumper by lap 10. Last years track champion #98 Lee Kemmit was third and was also pressing for the top spot. A great race for 4th position between the four cars of #3 Wade Grove, #84 Bruce Borchardt, #6 Tommy Roe and #7 of Ethan Penrod brought the huge CNS crowd to the edge of their seats. Back up front Simpson ran a smooth and clean race and did everything in his power to hold off the charging Kemmit but with just 5 laps to go both Kemmit and Walbaum were able to go around the outside of Simpson. When the checkered flag flew Lee Kemmit had won yet another Sportsman feature making him one of the most dominate drivers in any division on the 3/8ths paved oval of CNS. Walbaum finished 2nd, Simpson was an impressive 3rd, #3 Wade Grove took 4th and rookie Ethan Penrod in the #7 car finished 5th.

Snap-On Tools Pro Trucks
4 time track champion "spiffy" Chris Leaf in the #07 started the Pro Truck main event on the pole and dominated the first half of the main event as #31 truck and FAST DASH winner Justin Simonson was several truck lengths behind in 2nd place. #27 Roger Avants caught Simonson and took control of 2nd place and began to track down Leaf for the lead. Avants could only get within a couple of truck lengths behind Leaf who took the win as Avants settled for 2nd place. #31 Simonson was third while #5 Troy Witthar & #34 Rudy Vanderwal finished 4th and 5th respectively.

NTC Logistics Super Stocks
#33 Bear Lynch edges out #46 Ric Lothert for the Super Stock win (Starr photo)Late Model and Pro Truck driver Bear Lynch jumped in the #33 Super Stock and promptly won the Super Stock FAST DASH sending notice to the rest of the field he was the car to beat in the feature. And in one of the most entertaining races of the night it was Lynch who jumped out to the lead in the Super Stock main event. Yet the familiar yellow and green #46 of "lightning" Ric Lothert pulled up on Lynch's bumper and began to battle for the lead. Lothert eventually pulled up next to Lynch on the inside and the two of them began to work past lapped traffic remaining side-by-side thrilling the large CNS crowd. #3 Michael Cox had assumed the third spot yet had his hands full with #13 Jason Morris and #61 John Humphrey. Impressive rookie #6x Josh Parker was running 6th who was just a few feet behind Humphrey. A late race caution flag brought out a 3 lap sprint to the finish. Lothert and Lynch banged doors and crossed the line in a near photo finish. At the line it was Lynch winning by inches over Lothert. #3 Michael Cox, #13 Jason Morris, and #61 John Humphrey rounded out the top five.

FAST DASH WINNER: #33 Bear Lynch
DASH WINNER: #02 Darrell Smith

ERA Supermodifieds
Johnny Pickard gets upside down in his ERA Supermodified (Starr photo)The ERA Supermodfieds had a wild start to the evening when on the second lap of the FAST DASH #02 Johnny Pickard spun down the back straight and then flipped upside down and slid all the way into turn three. Thankfully Johnny was uninjured in the crash but his car suffered damage causing him to retire from the night's events. In the main event team cars #3 Harold Evans and #2 Richie Castor Jr. dominated the field and finished the race in first and second positions.

FAST DASH WINNER: #3 Harold Evans
QUICK TIME: #2 Richie Castor Jr. 14.467

Witthar Racing Trains
In one of the wildest and most entertaining Train races in several years the #67 Scooby Doo Train took home the trophy but the real story was the wild action that thrilled the fans on every lap of the main event. 7 Trains started the main event and since each train consists of three cars that means there were 21 actual vehicles on the track, with a total of 84 wheels and tires spinning and burning rubber. Yet by the end of the race after several spins, crashes, and flurries of sparks, there was about 63 wheels and tires still functioning leaving a trail of parts and pieces littering the CNS track.
