(09-05-2015 Dacono Colorado) – North Carolina’s Justin Peltier showed up at CNS and nearly won the Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom Labor Day Spectacular. Yet Peltier’s chance at victory was dashed by Dan Savage who came from nearly dead last to shock Peltier in the final laps. Will Alvarado, Danny Medina, and Jereme Wall were victorious in the Pure Stocks, Legends, and Figure 8s respectively.
Gillet Vet Clinic Super Late Models
It would take 100 laps to determine the winner of the Gillet Vet Clinic Super Late Models and several drivers would take their turn running up front flexing their muscles. At the start of the race it was former champions #31 Rick Smith and #12 Bruce Yackey who raced side by side for several laps. Behind the leaders #34 Rudy Vanderwal and #08 Jace Hansen were locked into a battle of their own. #11 Darren Robertson and #9 Justin Simonson made their move from row 3 and settled into 3rd and 4th.

Yet it was #6 Dominic Ursetta and #48 Justin Peltier from North Carolina that appeared to be the two fastest cars on the track as they began to make their charge to the front.
Peltier would make a daring move to take the lead by splitting Smith and Yackey with 29 laps complete. As the race progressed one by one cars started to fade from the lead pack. First Smith, then Yackey, Simonson and even Robertson appeared to fall off Peltier’s pace. The only car that looked as if he had anything for Peltier was Ursetta but even he began to fade in the closing stages of the race.

With just a few laps to go Peltier bobbled coming out of turn 4 and Savage jumped on the opportunity taking over the lead to the cheers of the crowd. Savage held off Peltier in the final laps to take the improbable win. Peltier finished directly behind in 2nd with Robertson, Ursetta, and Yackey rounding out the top 5.

Lincoln College Pure Stocks
The only driver to knock #3% Will Alvarado out of winner’s circle this year is #43 Kody Vanderwal and he was on the front row to start the feature. Alvarado was starting in 6th and the question became could Alvarado catch Vanderwal or could the youngster hold him off.
As usual the Pure Stocks were putting on a great show with action all over the track. #84 Joe Mares, 02ss Sean Smith, #31 Mike Mathiesen, and #21 Jamie Ward were all running strong battling for position. Yet none of them were able to mount a challenge to Vanderwal or Alvarado who were building a lead on the field. ‘

Clegg jumped out to an early lead but #21 Ryan Jones pulled up on his bumper and began to pressure Clegg for the lead. #15 Danny Medina was stuck all the way back in the 7th place but he was quickly moving to the front.

By the time Medina got to the front he snuck by Jones and set his sights on Clegg. The battle was on with Medina passing Clegg and Clegg passing Medina right back. Thrilling the fans the two top drivers were battling for the lead while navigating lapped traffic.

While the feature event was accident free the real trouble came in the dash when #71 Tyler Dowler spun in front of the field as he was about to get lapped in turn 3. #10 Frank Gastineau had nowhere to go and collided into Dowler causing a great deal of damage to both cars.
Just a couple laps later #2 Lance Proctor t-boned #12 Harvey Webb Jr. in the X sending both cars spinning and throwing parts in every direction. #81 Dave Smith was also collected in the crash as his car ran into Proctors.
Thankfully none of the drivers in any of the crashes was injured.
