Vanderwal repeats as Snap-On Tools Pro Truck Champion

Updated: Mar 12, 2022

(09-12-2015 Dacono Colorado) The Snap-On Tools Pro Trucks have been one of the most exciting and competitive divisions over the past several seasons and 2015 was no exception. Rudy Vanderwal, Adam Deines, and Matt Burton came into the final race all fighting for the top spot. Vanderwal was able to win his second straight Pro Truck Championship by finishing 3rd and 2nd in the two Pro Truck feature events on Championship night holding off Deines by just 7 points.

Snap-On Tools Pro Trucks

Rudy Vanderwal was seeking to repeat his 2014 crown as he entered the Snap-On Tools Championship night with just a slim 7 point lead over Adam Deines. Deines entered the evening winning 3 of the last 5 feature events so everyone knew this would be a battle to remember. It would take two feature events on the final night to settle the score.

In the first feature Deines made his case for the championship by taking the checkered flag in a caution filled event. Vanderwal had a battle on his hands trying to hold off youngster AJ Warren in the #2 Truck. At the finish warren nudged out Vanderwal for 2nd place by a mere 7/1000th of a second.

The drama couldn’t have been higher as the two drivers entered the second 40 lap feature only separated by a couple points. Deines would have to earn every point as he drew a terrible 7th place starting spot. Vanderwal lined up in 4th and the race was on. While #82 Michael Scott was leading the race all eyes were on the #7 and the #34 to see who would be this years Snap-On Tools Pro Truck Champion. #36 Matt Burton was also on the thick of things but he would need a miracle to steal the championship.

A great 5 truck battle thrilled the fans between the Scott, Burton, Vanderwal, Deines, and Warren. Vanderwal was able to get by Burton for 2nd as did Deines taking 3rd. As the race neared complete Scott in the yellow #82 truck began to build a rather large lead on the field and went on to take the win, his first of the season.

Second place was enough for Vanderwal to secure his second straight Snap-On Tools Pro Truck Championship. Deines settled for third place, just narrowly missing the championship battle. Warren took home 4th and #85 Cole MacEwen from Fort Collins had an impressive 5th place finish.

SUNOCO Fuels Grand American Modifieds

Jeff Hansen came into the final points race having won only one feature event all season. However Hansen’s consistent top 5 finishes had him leading the points on route to his second ever CNS track championship.

When the green flag dropped Hansen in the #77 and Kyle Ray in the #58 would race side by side with both drivers taking turns leading the race. Ray eventually clears the field and begins to put some distance on the field with Hansen and #95 Cris Muhler in 2nd and 3rd. Last years champion #44 Justin Case is right behind Muhler making his presence felt.

On lap 23 Ray’s car suffers mechanical failure therefore Hansen inherits the lead and the eventual win. With the win Hansen takes home the 2015 SUNOCO Fuels Grand American Modified championship. Muhler not only takes 2nd in the race but also 2nd in the final point standings.
