GTI Golf Cars Fairway Fury Delivers Good, Clean Racing At CNS

July 12, 2025 - Dacono, CO

Fresh off an explosive July 4th weekend, Colorado National Speedway wasted no time firing things back up on July 12th, 2025. A strong crowd turned out to see some of the track’s most beloved and competitive divisions in action, including the Super Late Models, Late Models, Super Stocks, and Demo X.

The drama dialed up early when Austin and his Subaru WRX threw down with Brent Cave, driver of the No. 9 Super Stock, in a surprise intermission circle drag between street car and Super Stock. Austin (who’s part of Cave’s own team) and his Subaru WRX barely held off Cave in the early going, then opened the throttle and left him in the dust for the win to the surprise and delight of the crowd.

Of course, that wild one-lap shootout was just one part of an action-packed evening. Read on to get the full rundown before your next trip to CNS.

Super Stock vs. Subaru WRX - Colorado National Speedway

Pueblo Bank & Trust Super Stocks

Fast Dash – 10 Laps

Jordan Abeyta took the point when the green flag fell, leading early in his No. 23 machine under pressure from the No. 11W of Scott Long. The field held two-by-two formation as the No. 97 of Kyle Stidham nosed into P3, chasing Long and Abeyta as their side-by-side battle raged up front.

As Abeyta finally fended off Long, Stidham closed in. Cave and the No. 49 of Chris Cox joined the mix. Cave made short work of Long, going two-wide with Stidham. Stidham clung to the runner-up position by a nose as Abeyta cruised to the win.

Dash – 10 Laps

After a multicar incident prompted a complete restart, Rick Phillips guided his No. 32P to the lead. The No. 95 of Jessilyn Dike and the No. 22 of AJ Hill locked into a heated battle for second, allowing Phillips to stretch his advantage. Hill eventually cleared Dike and began reeling in the leader. A few laps later, the two were nose-to-tail but Phillips held firm and fended off Hill at the line for the win.

Feature – 25 Laps

With 29 Super Stocks on the grid, fans were treated to a fast-paced and remarkably clean 25-lap Feature. Dillyn Kellogg led the field alongside the No. 3 of Mike Cox, and it was Kellogg who took command when the green dropped. The pack stayed two-wide through Lap 1, but Chris Cox swept past both front-runners in a daring three-wide move with Cave hot on his heels.

Cave dispatched Kellogg, while Mike Cox dropped outside the top 10. Kellogg hung on to P3 under pressure from the No. 12S of Shawn Sulley, while Cave hounded Chris Cox for the lead. Sulley dove inside to pass Kellogg, just as Abeyta joined the fray.

Cox and Cave went wheel-to-wheel until the halfway point, when Cave finally made it stick. Cox tucked in behind him, but Cave opened a gap. Slower traffic loomed, and Cave’s lead was anything but safe. Kellogg defended third with Abeyta lurking behind. Eventually, both Cave and Cox got mired in traffic but Cave navigated it cleanly while Cox got bogged down. With Cox losing ground, Cave powered through to the checkers, well ahead of the pack. Cox came home second, and Kellogg held on to round out the podium.

Guardian Roofing Super Late Models

Fast Dash – 10 Laps

The No. 3C of Cassidy Hinds and the No. 78 of Colton Crocker led the field to green, racing side-by-side for the early lead. All six cars stayed bunched up as Crocker edged ahead. Hinds fired back, but couldn’t make it stick. Behind them, the No. 82 of Michael Scott began a steady charge through the high line. In just a few laps, he surged to the front and never looked back, taking the win.

Dash – 10 Laps

Adam Deines quickly took control in the No. 6, with the No. 26 of Dylan Jones and No. 47 of Paul Mattorano Jr. scrapping for P3. Jones (who traveled to race at CNS from Vail, Arizona) claimed the position, then chased down and passed the No. 2S of Steven Thompson for second. The field fell into a single-file rhythm as Jones reeled in Deines. When Deines’ car stepped out slightly in Turn 2, Jones pounced—passing him cleanly and snagging the win from the second row.

Feature – 40 Laps

Bruce Yackey led the field to green in the No. 12 and held off Crocker for two laps before Crocker dug in and completed the pass. Kody Vanderwal’s No. 43 battled Hinds for third, but Hinds slipped past and then overtook Yackey for second.

Meanwhile, Scott once again began slicing through the field narrowly avoiding disaster in a door-to-door battle that nearly put him in the wall. Once clear of traffic, Scott locked into his high line and began building speed.

As Hinds closed on Crocker, Scott overtook Brett Yackey for P4. Crocker held the top spot while Hinds faded slightly, now fending off Scott. The two dueled briefly until Scott completed the pass. Even in traffic, he chopped Crocker’s lead down to five car-lengths—then reeled him in and made the winning move. With clean air ahead, Scott pulled away as Crocker slipped back into Hinds’ clutches. Scott took the win with a comfortable lead and another textbook drive, sweeping the night’s events. We can’t wait to see Scott and the rest of the CNS SLM crew hit the track with the CARS Tour on July 26th, 2025!

Late Models

Fast Dash – 10 Laps

Eric Meisner’s No. 51 took command from the jump, narrowly edging out the No. 99 of Tessa Marine to lead the first lap. After clearing Marine, Meisner faced pressure from the No. 18 of Casey Wiggans, who stormed up to his bumper. Marine tried to fend off the No. 8 of Dan Alamaa for third while Wiggans closed in, but mechanical issues struck the No. 18, forcing him to back off. Meisner motored on to the win.

Dash – 10 Laps

After a full restart due to a multicar pileup, the No. 40 of Brandon Newey surged past the No. 116 of Adam Kimler and the No. 06 of Ben Hendricks to take the lead. Kimler managed to ditch Hendricks for second, but Newey was already gone, crossing the stripe unchallenged.

Feature – 30 Laps

Lee Kemmit launched from pole in the No. 98, with Marine and the No. 1 of Caleb Johnson battling for second. Meisner, fresh off a Fast Dash win, picked up where he left off, passing Marine as Johnson slipped to fourth. Meisner reeled in Kemmit quickly and took the lead on Lap 8. Wiggans, who had started deep in the field, carved his way into P3 and then traded positions with Kemmit for several laps before finally taking second.

Meisner continued to lead, but lapped traffic loomed with nine laps to go until a yellow flag bunched the field back up. On the restart, Meisner jumped back to the lead, with Wiggans under pressure from Johnson. The fight for second heated up while Meisner gapped the field, claiming his second win of the night in style.

Quick Time: No. 18, Casey Wiggans, 17.709

Fast Dash: No. 51, Eric Meisner

Dash: No. 40, Brandon Newey

Feature: No. 51, Eric Meisner

United Power Demo X

Once in a blue moon, a herd of haphazard racers known as Demo X (pronounced Demo Cross) take to the infield jumps for a pair of beautifully chaotic races. Touted as being the series showcasing “everything you wish you could do on I-25 but would probably get arrested for,” mayhem and full-contact racing are not only common, but encouraged. Plenty of fans reach out to CNS during the week asking if we do demo derbies – and this is our answer! The Demo X Lite division (sedans and light SUVs) delivered in plenty of drama, while the Demo X Heavies (full-size SUVs and pickups) did the same – complete with a rollover on one of the jumps (the driver was ok!)

Demo X Lite: No. 75, Nick Meeker

Demo X Heavy:  No. 7 Mike Gordon

With summer in full swing, CNS is the place to be on Saturday nights. We’re incredibly thankful to the fans, drivers, teams, crews, employees, and partners who make every race night possible.

Looking ahead, we’ve got a great show lined up for the annual Towers & First Responders Night Out and don’t forget, the CARS Tour is headed our way the last weekend of July. Pick up your advance tickets here!
