(08-16-2014 Dacono, CO) In what might have been one of the best feature events in recent memory Justin Simonson won the Snap-On Tools Pro Truck main event by mere feet over Adam Hilton, Matt Burton and Adam Deines. The 4 truck battle thrilled the CNS fans with a breathtaking final lap that will not be soon forgotten. In other action Kyle Ray won both the SUNOCO Fuels Grand American Modifed and CARC Mod Coupe feature events and “the Maverick” Brett Yackey bested the huge field of Pure Stocks.
Snap-On Tools Pro Trucks Once again in 2014 the Snap-On Tools Pro Trucks are demonstrating why they are one of the most competitive and exciting divisions to watch at CNS. The feature event was one of the most thrilling races in several years at the track as 4 trucks all crossed the finish line within feet of one another after a crazy final lap.
When the race started it was a three car battle between #36 Matt Burton, #31 Justin Simonson, and #06 Adam Hilton. The three trucks pulled away from the large field but couldn’t pull away from each other as they traded paint for the entire 30 lap feature. As the race neared completion Simonson took the lead from Burton and Hilton moved into 2nd place. From out of nowhere the #7 truck of Adam Deines joined the battle for the lead making it a 4 truck race for the win.

The final lap of the race is when things got crazy as Hilton tried to under Simonson in turn one and the two trucks touched, both Simonson and Hilton slide sideways opening the door for Burton and Deines. Burton then made contact with Hilton in turn 3 and it looked as if a four truck pileup could spell the end of the feature. However all the drivers hung on in miraculous fashion and when they came out of turn 4 for the checker flag it was literally anyone’s race. Simonson crossed the line in front, followed closely by Hilton, Burton, and Dienes. It was then and only then that the large crowd at CNS could catch their breath after witnessing a truly awesome feature event.

It should be noted that the current points leader heading into the event was Rudy Vanderwal in the #34 truck who could not attend due to family commitments. Simonson took over the season standings by just 2 points over Vanderwal with the feature win.

Lincoln College of Technology Pure Stocks A huge field of Lincoln College of Technology Pure Stocks lined up to take the green flag for their feature event. #32 Brett Yackey pulled the perfect starting spot for the feature on the front row and set sail leaving the rest of the cars in his wake. The real battle was was for 2nd place between #06 Jeff Dempewolf and #96 Mike Steward as the two cars banged doors and moved through traffic with surgical precision. A late race caution gave Dempewolf a final shot at Yackey for the win and it looked like Dempewolf might have something for “the Maverick” but couldn’t make the pass and Yackey went on to take the checker.
Yackey swept the evenings Pure Stock events winning the feature, the FAST DASH, and setting quick time with a 20.635
Yackey now has a commanding 51 point lead over 21w Jamie Ward. Dempefwolf settled for 2nd in the feature, #84 Daniel Mares was 3rd, #3% Will Alvarado took the 4th spot and #48 Joe Mares rounded out the top 5.

SUNOCO Fuels Grand American Modifieds Super Late Model driver Emmet Grazier in the yellow #33 Grand American Modified jumped out to the early lead in the SUNOCO Fuels Grand American Modifieds feature event but but all eyes were on Kyle Ray in the #58 who was working his way to the front from the back of the field. Grazier had his hands full battling #24 Tim Holm who had set quick time with a 17.442. On lap 9 Holm finally found his way around Grazier and took his turn leading the race but now Ray was in second place and was right on Holm’s bumper. Ray dove to the inside of Holm and the two cars put on a great side by side battle for the lead. At the finish Ray took the win followed closely by Holm. Points leader #44 Justin Case finished a distant 3rd. Grazier settled for 4th and #0 Ron O’Neal was 5th.

CARC Mod Coupes The much anticipated battle between #3 Kyle Ray and #95 Cris Muhler the two fastest Mod Coupes would finally take place and both cars would start near the rear of the feature. It would take less than a lap for both Ray and Muhler to jump to the front of the field and the chase was on. Ray led the race and Muhler was right on his tail lap after lap, after lap. Muhler would pull right up on Ray’s bumper as the two cars entered the corner but Ray would regain a one car length advantage as they exited the corner. Eventually the two leaders would lap the entire field in their furious battle against one another. The race went green from start to checker and Muhler could never get past Ray who went on to win his 2nd Coupe feature at CNS. #5 Jason Bunt finished 2nd and #12 Jaime Bubak took over the season points lead with a 4th place finish.
