Towers And First Responders Night Out Delivers Good, Clean Action At CNS

July 18, 2026 - Dacono, CO

Colorado National Speedway delivered another outstanding night of grassroots racing on July 18^th, 2026, with the Grand American Modifieds, Pro Trucks, Pure Stocks, and Trains putting on a show from green flag to checkered flag. Clean, competitive racing was the theme of the night as drivers battled hard for every position while treating fans to exciting action across every division. From close competition to plenty of side-by-side racing, the night's program was a great reminder of why Saturday nights at CNS are always worth the trip. Feature 1 – 20 Laps

The No. 34 of Rudy Vanderwal led the field to green, but the No. 16 of Travis Roe immediately pulled alongside as the No. 22 of Brian Yackey settled into third by the end of the opening lap. Roe and Vanderwal raced door-to-door through the early laps while the No. 9 of Curtis Heldenbrand searched for an opening underneath them. Heldenbrand eventually slipped past Yackey for third as the No. 29 of Dalton Webb and the No. 85 of Jeff Walbaum battled for fifth. Up front, Roe finally cleared Vanderwal and quickly opened an eight-car-length advantage.

The fight for second soon intensified as Heldenbrand challenged Vanderwal, allowing Yackey to seize the runner-up position. Further back, Webb battled Heldenbrand and Vanderwal for the remaining top five spots, eventually working his way past both while the No. 11 of Steve Johnson capitalized to take over fifth. Out front, Roe was untouchable, leading the closing laps unchallenged to earn his fifth Pro Truck victory of the season.

Feature 2 – 30 Laps

The No. 86 of Tim Coate took command at the start as the No. 11 of Steve Johnson and the No. 85 of Jeff Walbaum tucked in behind him. Roe quickly worked past Walbaum for fourth before Johnson mounted a charge for the lead. His move around the outside opened the door for Webb to join the battle, with the top three running nose-to-tail. Johnson completed the pass for the lead while Webb moved into second, showing Roe the way forward. Yackey soon joined the lead pack, while Coate held off challenges from Walbaum, Heldenbrand, and Vanderwal to remain inside the top five.

Roe eventually worked past Webb and immediately turned his attention to Johnson. He dove to the inside entering Turn 3, and the two traded light contact while battling side by side for several laps. The inside line ultimately prevailed as Roe edged ahead and took sole possession of the lead. Behind them, Webb and Yackey continued their spirited battle for third while weaving through lapped traffic. Up front, Roe never looked back, pulling away over the closing laps to complete the Pro Truck sweep with his second victory of the night.

Feature 1 – 20 Laps

The field barely reached Turn 1 before a single-car spin prompted a complete restart. The No. 69 of Forest Smith got the jump on the second attempt, leaving the No. 6 of Scotty Scott and the No. 24 of Nathan Gasser behind to lead the opening lap. Smith quickly established the pace, but before he could build much of an advantage, a multi-car incident in Turn 1 brought out the caution on Lap 5. On the restart, Smith again held off the No. 51 of Cade Fox, while Scott and Gasser continued their spirited battle for third. Scott briefly gained the advantage, but Gasser remained glued to his bumper, keeping the pressure on lap after lap.

Further back, the No. 2 of Steven Rodenbaugh and the No. 68 of Wyatt Dent waged a close battle for fifth, with Dent repeatedly looking for a way into the top five. Rodenbaugh refused to give up the position until another caution for an incident among the front-runners reset the field. With five laps remaining, Smith once again defended the lead on the restart, quickly distancing himself from Fox. From there, Smith was in a class of his own, driving away over the closing laps to secure the victory. The win marked a special milestone for Smith, whose No. 69 machine has been extensively modified to allow the paraplegic driver to compete using only hand controls.

Feature 2 – 30 Laps

The No. 541 of Kirk Hunter led the field to green, but Scott immediately applied pressure. Hunter held the lead through the opening laps before Scott and Fox worked their way past, with Scott taking over the top spot and Fox settling into second. Hunter gradually slipped backward as the No. 68 of Wyatt Dent and Smith worked their way by. Up front, Scott continued to lead while Smith steadily carved through the field, overtaking the No. 66 of John Seely before setting his sights on the No. 21 of Ryan Jones for third.

At halfway, Fox drew alongside Scott and completed the pass one lap later to take over the lead. Smith soon followed, slipping past Jones before overtaking Scott for second as the leaders encountered slower traffic. A spin from inside the top five with seven laps remaining brought out the caution, lining Smith up alongside Fox for the restart. Fox successfully defended the inside lane as the front two broke away from the field, but another caution quickly erased their advantage after an incident in Turn 4.

On the final restart, Fox and Smith launched side by side before Fox cleared the field and settled into the lead. Despite one final caution after an incident in Turn 3, Fox remained firmly in control, taking the checkered flag .778 seconds ahead of Smith to close out the evening.

Feature 1 – 20 Laps

Led to the green by the No. 23 of Peyton Opperman and the No. 63 of Kenny Bowlus, a 23-car Pure Stock field took the green flag before an early caution prompted a complete restart. Opperman held the inside lane against challenges from the No. 19Y of Justin Young Jr. and the No. 08 of Tanner McKim, but Bowlus surged ahead to lead the opening lap. Bowlus controlled the early stages before Opperman mounted another charge to the inside. McKim settled into third, followed by Young Jr. and the No. 00 of Dylan Jaramillo, who began applying pressure for fourth. Up front, Opperman remained glued to Bowlus' rear bumper until a single-car spin on Lap 5 brought out the caution.

The restart shuffled the order, with McKim emerging as the new leader ahead of the No. 1 of Derek Spalding and Bowlus, while Opperman slipped to fourth. Jaramillo and the No. 54 of Giovanni Scimeca traded fifth several times before Jaramillo secured the position. McKim quickly stretched his advantage to three car lengths by halfway as the top four settled in, while Scimeca, Jaramillo, and Young Jr. battled fiercely for fifth. A chain-reaction incident on Lap 13 ended Opperman's strong run with a flat tire, bringing out the red flag for cleanup.

With seven laps remaining, McKim again led the field to green with Bowlus alongside. McKim held firm while Scimeca moved into second, leaving Bowlus to defend third. Further back, the No. 57 of Tyler Humphrey fought to hold onto fifth as a trio of challengers closed in. On the final lap, Young Jr. slipped past Bowlus for third, but out front, McKim remained untouchable, driving to the Feature 1 victory.

Feature 2 – 25 Laps

The No. 24 of Kolby Humphrey jumped to the lead as soon as the green flag flew. The field fanned out three-wide entering Turn 3 before settling into line, while Spalding charged into fourth and Young Jr. climbed into the top five. A caution just three laps in, followed by a red flag for cleanup, reset the field. Humphrey reclaimed the lead on the restart as Spalding challenged around the outside. Spalding and Bowlus made light contact while battling for position but both continued without issue, although Spalding slipped outside the top five. Humphrey pulled away while the No. 14 of Jeff Yenisch and Bowlus fought over third. As Bowlus faded, McKim moved alongside to challenge, while Scimeca steadily closed on Humphrey for the lead.

Yenisch and Scimeca made slight contact while battling for second, allowing Yenisch to

tighten the gap. Meanwhile, the No. 21L of Madi Lange charged into the top five after a

spirited battle, first demoting Bowlus and then overtaking McKim one lap later. Contact

among front-runners brought out another caution and reset the field once again.

Humphrey maintained control on the restart, but Spalding immediately mounted a

challenge. Running the low groove, Spalding completed the pass for the lead and

began opening a small advantage. McKim gave chase over the closing laps, but a

lapped car briefly bunched the leaders together before Spalding expertly negotiated

traffic to preserve the lead. Behind them, Scimeca slipped past Humphrey on the final

lap to claim the final podium position, while Spalding raced to the checkered flag for the

victory.

Feature – 8 Laps

The No. 91 Friday Night Special couldn’t quite get going at the green, but the field charged away, headed by the No. 41G Funny Farm and No. 22 Hot Mess Express. Hot Mess Express challenged Funny Farm for the lead before the first lap was complete, taking the top spot in a hurry as No. 80HD SNAFU spun into the infield dirt. Hot Mess Express lost a tire on its brake car, but kept going, showering the field with sparks. Funny Farm reclaimed the lead after a pointed charge, allowing Friday Night Special to take over second. Up front, Funny Farm led through the chaos and snagged the win.
