CNS Delivers Good, Clean Fun For Advance Auto Parts Night At The Races

Updated: 4 hours ago

On a perfect summer evening, Colorado National Speedway came alive with four hard-hitting divisions: Super Late Models, Figure 8s, Super Stocks, and Pro Trucks. All of our divisions tore up the asphalt in a clean, fast-paced show. Fans packed into the fastest short track in the West on Saturday, August 9th, 2025, soaking up affordable and adrenaline-fueled entertainment. Even intermission had its own flair, as the Model A Club rolled out for a few laps, serving a throwback to the early 1900s. If you missed it, don’t worry! We’ve got the full rundown below.

NoCo Model A Club

Pueblo Bank & Trust Super Stocks

Dash – 10 Laps

The No. 32P, driven by Rick Phillips, lunged ahead at the start, but the No. 99JR of Ryan Raley Jr. tried to fight back on the inside to no avail as Phillips led the first lap. Raley settled in behind him, holding off a charge from the No. 61 of John Humphrey as the pack strung out single file. Humphrey looked inside Raley, but could not make it stick and lost ground. A yellow waved on Lap 3 for a multicar incident, setting Phillip and Raley up for a restart on the front row. Phillips reassumed the lead, but quickly found himself under pressure from Humphrey, who passed Raley and began working his way into the lead. On the last lap, Humphrey looked to the inside of Phillips in T2, backed out, and mounted another charge heading to the checkers, but fell short at the line as Phillips went on to win.

Fast Dash – 10 Laps

Polesitter Chris Jordan’s No. 4 nosed ahead to barely lead, but found himself in the middle of a three-wide tangle, split between the No. 49 of Chris Cox and the No. 18Y of Justin Young. Jordan slipped back while Young and Cox continued their battle for the lead.  Behind them, Brent Cave’s No. 9 slipped into P3, biding his time as Young and Cox continued to wear each other out. Finally, Cox dove to the bottom and passed Young, pulling Cave through with him. The No. 97 of Kyle Stidham overtook Young for third as Young continued to plummet, taking up arms against the No. 11W of Scott Long for fourth as the white waved over Cox. Cave made a final run at Cox, but it would be Cox ahead at the line; Long barely edged out Young for fourth.

Feature – 25 Laps

As soon as they had the green, the field jostled for position, filtering the No. 03 of Justin Eisenhauer out into the lead with the No. 28 of Teigan Scott in tow. Dillyn Kellogg – who started on the outside front row - fell out of the top five in the chaos, while Eisenhauer was able to gap the rest of the field, leaving behind a four-way battle for P2. The No. 12S of Shawn Sulley came out on top for fourth, ditching the No. 23 of Jordan Abeyta and the No. 60M, driven by Morrie Christner. Cox – having started in the sixth row – began knocking on the door to the top five just eight laps in. Before he could do anything about it, a caution waved as the race slowed for a multicar incident, resetting the race with Eisenhauer and Sulley on the front row, tailed by Abeyta and Cox. Eisenhauer defended the lead, but Sulley mounted a charge on the outside. Eisenhauer managed to keep Sulley and the rest in his rearview – at least, until Cox snuck his way into P2, pulling even with Eisenhauer’s right rear before taking the battle right to his door. Eisenhauer put up a fight, but ultimately fell short as Cox took off with the lead. That left Eisenhauer to fight Abeyta for second, surrendering the position to Abeyta shortly thereafter.

Cox set a blistering pace, while Abeyta tried to fend off Eisenhauer with five to go for the honors of being the runner-up car. Stidham took control of P4, while Long slotted into P5. Eisenhauer worked on Abeyta, trying to gain back at least one position before the checkers. He made it work, putting Abeyta behind him, but their fight led Stidham to close on them both. As the field strung out, with race cars in all four corners of the track, Cox completed the last lap with the rest of the pack well behind him, taking his second feature win of the 2025 season after charging up from a mid-pack starting position to make it happen.

Exhaust Pros Northglenn Figure 8s

Dash – 10 Laps

The No. 18 of Dennis Stepanich III filtered into the lead, pulling the No. 3 machine of Michael Wolfe Jr. through with him, but with one lap barely in the books, a caution waved for a car slowing near the pit entrance. On the restart, Stepanich had his hands full fending off Wolfe, as the No. 15 of Jereme Wall made a run on the low side dove into second. Wolfe finally took control of the race, ditching Stepanich, who subsequently fell in behind Wall. Wall now had a mission: track down Wolfe as the laps ticked off. Wall cut the distance and began pressuring Wolfe, giving the driver of the No. 3 a run for his money. Wall mounted a charge on the last corner of the last lap, snatching the victory out from under Wolfe at the last possible second.

Feature – 20 Laps

Javon Barnard’s No. 38 and the No. 67D of Keith Swenson led to the green, showing the way for a double-file gaggle of cars. Barnard took control and demoted Swenson, opening the gap to one car-length as the field swung through the F8 course for the first time. Wolfe marched into fourth behind them, while Wall had his hands full with slower cars, sweeping past several of them in short order and cracking the top five. Barnard led by several car-lengths over Swenson, while Wolf muscled past the No. 64 of Michael Kephard, inserting himself into P3 – but suddenly had a rearview full of Wall. The field began to spread out, setting the stage for some action in The X as Barnard continued to run for his life ahead of the gaggle of cars from second on back. Wall navigated through it all, setting himself into second place and drawing a bead on Barnard. Barnard no longer had clear track ahead of him as slower traffic crossed through The X, allowing Wall to gallop right to his tail with eight laps left. Barnard threw a block on Wall,  driving the wheels off his race car as action in The X heated up. Barnard then washed up the track, giving Wall the opening he needed to take the lead. Some drama in The X saw Swenson swerving into the dirt, managing to avoid the slower race cars and hang onto third place while he was at it. Crossroads action calmed down as Wall opened his lead to five car-lengths. Toward the back of the pack, the No. 52 of Jared Wall had his hands full, chasing the back end of his race car around the track while trying to keep his brother, Jereme, behind him, but to no avail. Jereme Wall took the white with Barnard in second, who was trapped behind several lapped cars and therefore no threat to Wall. Wall maintained his position and took the victory, leading Barnard and the No. 20 of Isaiah Proctor home on the podium.

Matco Tools Pro Trucks - RESULTS STILL UNOFFICIAL

Dash – 10 Laps

After a botched start, the Pro Truck field finally got going, with the No. 86 of Tim Coate filtering into a healthy lead right away. The No 21 of Chris Nelson and the No. 00 of Brad Skufca fought door-to-door for P2, allowing the No. 34 of Rudy Vanderwal to close the distance. Nelson got the upper hand, settling into second as Skufca fell back. Coate continued to lead as Vanderwal looked to crack the top three, eventually overtaking Skufca for the honors. Coate continued to lead, but the race was cut short on the last lap as a multicar incident unfolded on the front stretch, solidifying Coate’s win.

Fast Dash – 10 Laps

The No. 16 of Travis Roe took control in short order, but couldn’t shake Jeff Walbaum’s No. 85 for the first few laps as the field race side by side. Brian Yackey took advantage of the chaos and launched his No. 22 truck into the lead with the No. 1F of Happy Ferree in hot pursuit. Finally, the trucks settled into a single file string. Ferree locked onto Yackey, cutting the distance in the corners but falling slightly behind on the straights. Yackey held off Ferree as he completed the final lap to win.

Feature – 30 Laps

The No. 11 of Steve Johnson sliced ahead of the field to lead Lap 1, but quickly found himself in the sights of Roe, pulling the No. 28 of Brian Weinmaster along with him. The No. 9 of Curtis Heldenbrand commanded fourth, while Ferree and the No. 50 of Tyler Wiggans raced wheel-to-wheel for fifth place. Ferree navigated around both of them, leading Yackey and Wiggans, while up front, Roe sank his claws into Johnson’s lead. Roe and Johnson gave each other hell for a few laps until Roe gained the upper hand. With Weinmaster holding down third, Yackey and Ferree renewed their battle for fifth. Ferree drew close to Yackey’s bumper, finally pulling ahead as they both advanced on Weinmaster. Yackey tried to make it a three-wide fight with Ferree and Weinmaster, but Ferree backed out. Yackey overtook Weinmaster, and then, so did Ferree. As Weinmaster slipped backward through the standings, Roe held onto the lead.

Wiggans and Weinmaster, battling for fourth and fifth, were now the closest battle in the field. But as they paced each other, Heldenbrand closed the gap, searching for his chance to crack the top five. Roe gained quickly on lapped traffic, but then, with 10 laps to go, a caution waved, forcing the field to regroup. The restart put Ferree out front, but the pack quickly unraveled into chaos as a superspeedway-like wreck wrapped up several frontrunners and a handful of drivers from the back of the field. The race was halted under red flag for track cleanup. When the action resumed, Ferree and Roe once again had a front-row view – but before they could get momentum rolling, yet another multicar wreck occurred, triggering a caution. When the race went green again, Ferree assumed the point, followed by Roe and Yackey. Yackey dialed up the pressure up on Roe, trying to find a way around him with just five laps left on the board. Yackey pulled alongside Roe and slingshot past him. While Ferree had a decent lead, Yackey gained fast, chipping into his lead. Ferree was undeterred, locking in and winning by several car-lengths over Yackey, while Roe brought his truck across the line in third.

Guardian Roofing Super Late Model - RESULTS STILL UNOFFICIAL

Fast Dash – 10 Laps

Matt Brunker Sr. took the lead in the No. 29 machine at the drop of the green, but could not hold off the No 43 of Kody Vanderwal. The No. 32 of Brett Yackey quickly inserted himself into the conversation, pressuring Vanderwal for the lead. Then, Yackey broke away and took control as Vanderwal plummeted, falling from second to fourth in the span of a single lap. Yackey continued to lead, pulling the No. 58 of Kyle Ray across the line in second after a blisteringly fast race.

Feature – 40 Laps

Starting from the front row, the No. 12 of Bruce Yackey launched into first place, heading off a charge from the No. 82 of Michael Scott on the first lap. Scott answered by overtaking Bruce Yackey in short order, pulling Brian Yackey along with him, demoting Bruce to third. A three-wide battle for the third position saw Vanderwal, Brunker, and Ray racing alongside one another, at least until Vanderwal gained the upper hand and left Ray and Brunker to continue their discussion for fifth place. Ray ultimately bested Brunker, falling into line as the field stretched out behind Scott, who continued to lead with Brett Yackey in tow. Scott worked his signature high line while Brett opted to dive low. While it appeared that Brett had found some speed near the apron, Scott fired off on the upper lane and gapped him even more. Further back, Bruce Yackey, holding down third, was under pressure from Vanderwal, letting Ray close the gap on him. Ray overtook both Bruce Yackey and Vanderwal; now, with clean air ahead of him, Ray began his quest to reel in Brett Yackey and Scott. But he had one hell of an uphill battle ahead – Brett Yackey nearly had a straightaway advantage on Ray at the halfway point of the race.

Just when it looked like Scott would set sail and leave the rest of the field in the dust, a single car incident in Turn 3 prompted a caution period. That neutralized Scott’s lead, giving Brett Yackey a shot at him from the front row. For a few laps, Brett and Scott appeared evenly matched, neither able to shake the other as they rounded the track. Vanderwal was also blisteringly fast, fighting off charges from Ray on the high side to maintain his grip on third place. Finally, Scott found what he needed to ditch Brett. Bruce Yackey, meanwhile, quietly lurked in fifth. Vanderwal didn’t let Ray get away with the position easy, though. Their fight was the closest in the field. Every time Vanderwal gained on Ray, he took back his real estate, making Vanderwal work for it. Scott maintained his position, leading to the checkers, winning in his first outing after going for a tumble in the last SLM race. At the line, Vanderwal finally nosed ahead of Ray, claiming the final podium slot at the line.
