Dominic Ursetta takes the win and the points lead at CNS

(05-17-2014 Dacono, CO) Dominic Ursetta in the black and white #6 Super Late Model not only powered under Darren Robertson to win the Radios USA feature event but he also stole the points lead from Chris Eggleston. David Rothrock grabbed the Super Stock feature while Danny Medina and Jamie Bubak were victorious in the Legends and Mod Coupes.

Gillett Vet Clinic Super Late Models Coming in to tonight’s race #22 Chris Eggleston had won both Super Late Model feature events and was sitting at the top of the championship standings but would have to come from a 6th place starting spot in the feature to continue his winning streak. #55 Jesse Runkle and #11 Darren Robertson brought the field to the green flag and Robertson made a strong move to the front. With 9 laps in the books #66 Darren Bucklen and #31 Rick Smith spun at the end of the front straight and miraculously the entire field avoided hitting either car which would have caused a massive pile up. Smith’s car had enough cosmetic body damage forcing him to make a quick run to the pits for repairs.

After the restart Robertson once again built a several car length lead on the field but the #6 of Dominic Ursetta who started all the way back in 8th spot was now hounding Robertson for the lead. At the halfway mark of the race Ursetta had caught Robertson and the drivers began to battle for the lead. Robertson was running the high line and Ursetta was down low as the drivers battled for position.

Eventually Ursetta cleared Robertson and took the lead for good. When the checkered flag flew Dominic Ursetta had a 3 car length lead on Robertson who settled for 2nd place. #66 Darren Bucklen finished 3rd, #39 Jack Nugent finished strong in 4th with #12 Bruce Yackey taking 5th. Eggleston finished a disappointing 8th and gave up the season points lead to Ursetta who now has an 8 point lead over Chris.

NTC Logistics Super Stocks #3 Michael Cox and #19 Brent Miller paced Super Stock field for the start of the feature event and when the green flag dropped Cox jumped out to a 3 car length lead on the field. #8 David Gee and #05 Troy Witthar were 3rd and 4th but it was #88 David Rothrock who was making a daring move to the front.

After 5 laps Rothrock had made his way to second place but was well behind Cox who was already encountering traffic. At the halfway mark in the race Rothrock had caught the leader and the two cars ran door handle to door handle. When the two leaders ran into heavy traffic Cox went high and Rothrock went low making a daring pass through the lapped cars. Once out in front Rothrock never looked back and went on to take the win while Cox settled for 2nd. Rookie Brent Miller in the #19 finished strong in 3d place and #05 Troy Witthar took 4th. Rounding out the top 5 was #8 David Gee.

RMRLA Legends A massive field of 28 Legend cars checked into the pits on this night with #19 Larry Pachello and #66 Kyle Clegg lined up on the front row to start the feature event. While Clegg grabbed the early lead it didn’t take long for #15 Danny Medina and #22 Chris Eggleston to begin to pressure Clegg for the position. Clegg, Medina, and Eggleston were putting on an incredible show up front trading the lead on almost every lap. Behind the leaders #3 Wayne Barlock Jr was having a strong run in 4th with #06 Mike Gallegos close behind in 5th. With so many cars on the track at the same time action throughout the entire field had the fans on the edge of their seats yet the Legend division proved they are a skilled group completing the feature with just one caution. In the final stages of the race Eggleston was frantically trying to get by Medina as the leaders worked their way through heavy traffic. Yet when the checkered flag flew it was Medina in front followed closely by Eggleston and Clegg. Barlock, Gallegos, and #34 Chris Cooper were 4th, 5th, and 6th.

Mod Coupes In the first Mod Coupe race on April 5th #3 Kyle Ray absolutely dominated the field but when his engine blew in hot laps his chances for a repeat were done. With Ray out of the running it appeared that the lightning fast #95 Cris Muhler who set quick time with a 15.466 and also won the fast dash might sweep the nights events. In the feature event #34 Randy Whitman jumped out to a large lead with #24 Chad Guilford running in second place and Muhler in 3rd who had worked his way up from the rear of the field. 44x Mike Wood brought out the caution after making hard contact with the turn 4 wall. On the restart there was a spin at the back of the pack in turn 1 which brought out the yellow but as the leaders began to slow there was a melee entering turn 3 and both Whitman and Muhler made contact sending each car in different directions. With Whitman up against the turn 3 wall and Muhler on the skirt of the infield the red flag was displayed while track crews cleaned up and towed off the damaged vehicles. Now that Whitman and Muhler were out of the race Guilford assumed the lead but it was #12 Jamie Bubak who powered her way around Guilford for the lead. Bubak was untouchable at that point and built a large lead going on to take the victory. #29 David Johnson finished 2nd with Guilford in 3rd and #5 Jason Bundt in 4th. #45 Carl Vair took the final spot in the top 5.
