North American Big Rigs Presented By Lowry Insurance Tear It Up At CNS

There was something for just about every race fan at Colorado National Speedway on September 5^th 2026, as Big Rigs, Pro Trucks, Legends, Bandoleros, Trains, and Circle Drags packed the schedule for another huge night at the Fastest Short Track in the West. The Big Rigs were the night’s centerpiece, bringing actual racing semis traveling all the way from Canada and the Pacific Northwest for a spectacular show of horsepower, smoke, and close competition. We were honored to host the North American Big Rig Racing championship race and thrilled to see a packed house of over 10,000 fans welcome these incredible machines back to Colorado.

Our local divisions brought plenty of action of their own, making for a loaded night from the first green flag to the last. The Pro Trucks, Legends, Bandoleros, and fan-favorite Trains kept everyone on the edge of their seats, along with Circle Drags and fireworks.

North American Big Rigs

Fast Dash – 12 Laps

The No. 05 of Dylan Swanstron took off with an early lead, but couldn’t break away from the No. 15 of Ashley Creed, who sliced into second, opening the door for the No. 62 of TJ Nonamaker to follow her through. Nonamaker wasn't content to stay there for long. He galloped forward and swept into the lead in one smooth move before setting sail.

But the No. 11 of Cole Wiesner was on his way. Wiesner muscled his way through the smoke and began pressuring Nonamaker with three laps remaining. He looked outside in Turn 3 and mounted his charge, but Nonamaker battled back and held the advantage at the stripe. Wiesner fired back once more, setting the stage for a spectacular photo finish. The two Big Rigs raced nose-to-nose toward the checkered flag, and Wiesner edged ahead by just 0.003 seconds, bringing the packed grandstands to their feet.

Dash – 12 Laps

The No. 26 of Jaeger Berdahl took the lead in the first Big Rig Dash, while the No. 22 of Mitchell Palin held onto second place, at least until his truck suddenly slowed. That opened the door for the No. 00 of Ron Singer to move into second and challenge the leader. On Lap 3, Singer worked the outside lane and swept into the lead, demoting Berdahl to second while the No. 21 of Mike Smith settled into third. Singer initially had a comfortable advantage, but within a few laps, Berdahl had erased the distance and ridden right back onto the leader's bumper. Berdahl spent the remainder of the race stalking Singer along the lower groove, searching for an opportunity to get around.

On the final lap, Berdahl pulled alongside Singer for one last shot at the victory, but ultimately had to back out. Singer held firm through the last few corners and crossed the stripe first to claim the Dash victory.

Feature – 40 Laps

Eleven snarling Big Rigs took the green flag with more than a Feature trophy on the line, as a championship would be settled at the end of those 40 laps, too. Berdahl took control of the race with Palin in hot pursuit, while the No. 00 of Singer briefly settled into third before being overtaken by the No. 77 of Cory Rippler. Then, on Lap 3, several Big Rigs tangled on the front stretch, necessitating a red flag as track crews quickly attended to the crash. Once the racing surface was cleared, the field returned to green with Palin and Berdahl battling up front.

Further back, Wiesner picked his way toward the leaders, a man on a mission in heavy traffic.

Creed mounted a hard charge and took control of the race on Lap 5, but Wiesner soon emerged as a threat. He stalked Creed for several laps before moving into the high groove and taking the lead away in Turn 1. With the point finally his, Wiesner set sail and opened several truck-lengths over Creed. Behind them, Berdahl had his hands full of the No. 91 of Brady Riplinger. Every position mattered with a championship at stake, and Riplinger fought to muscle his way forward. Meanwhile, Rippler overtook Palin for fifth and began closing on the battle ahead. Berdahl continued to defend third from a hard-charging Riplinger, but Rippler was coming, steadily tracking them down with every passing lap. While Wiesner led by more than five seconds, third through fifth became the tightest fight on the racetrack. Berdahl, Riplinger, and Rippler evenly matched one another through the turns, all fighting to settle the running order behind the leaders.

Rippler took advantage of the melee and swept high, battling alongside Riplinger before carrying his momentum toward Berdahl on the front stretch. He moved into fourth and immediately set his sights on third. Then, on Lap 30, the competition caution waved and erased Wiesner's massive advantage. When the green flag flew, just six laps stood between the field and the championship. Wiesner suddenly had to fend off another valiant charge from Creed, but the No. 11 quickly broke free and began rebuilding his advantage.

With two laps left, Wiesner had stretched the gap back to a full second, while Rippler emerged ahead of the intense battle behind the leaders. Nobody could stop Wiesner from there. He completed the final circuits and cruised beneath the checkered flag, winning the Feature and securing his fourth North American Big Rig Racing championship after putting on one hell of a show for a packed house. Creed finished second in the race and second in the championship standings, while Rippler rounded out the Feature podium in third.

Fast Dash – 10 Laps

The No. 29 of Dalton Webb ran for his life with the No. 22 of Brian Yackey hot on his heels, but Yackey soon had his hands full of the No. 16 of Travis Roe. Webb continued to lead while Yackey settled comfortably into P2, as the No. 1F of Happy Ferree snuck his way into the top five. The No. 34 of Rudy Vanderwal raced a little farther back in fifth, holding the No. 06 of Scott Johnson and the rest of the pack at bay. Up front, Yackey continued to reel Webb in, but rapidly ran out of time to make something happen. Despite a valiant effort from Yackey in the closing laps, Webb held firm and took the Fast Dash victory.

Dash – 10 Laps

While the No. 60M of Nick Martinez tried to take the lead, the No. 86 of Tim Coate fired back and overtook him on Lap 2. Martinez fell in behind the No. 4 of Chris Jordan on the next lap, then spun and triggered a caution after coming to a stop on the racing surface. Coate assumed the lead once more as the No. 6 of Kip Sandell moved into P2. From there, Coate continued to lap the speedway well clear of the second-place truck. He completed the final circuits without challenge to win, leading Sandell across the stripe.

Feature – 30 Laps

The No. 11 of Steve Johnson showed the way to the green flag, but had pressure from the No. 9 of Curtis Heldenbrand almost immediately. Heldenbrand and Johnson raced side-by-side through the opening lap until Heldenbrand finally got the upper hand, while the No. 06 of Scott Johnson dropped from third to fifth. Vanderwal looked to the inside of Steve Johnson, who had begun a steady slide backward through the field. Scott Johnson rolled low as both he and Vanderwal worked their way past the No. 11. Up front, Ferree found some speed and brought the fight to Heldenbrand. The pair evenly matched each other for several laps and broke away from the rest of the pack. Ferree and Heldenbrand made light contact as they battled for the top spot, allowing Ferree to briefly take the lead, but further contact between the leaders ultimately took Ferree out of contention.

After the incident was cleared, the race resumed with Scott Johnson out front under pressure from Yackey. The pair went at it for the lead, allowing Roe to close the gap and enter the conversation. Scott Johnson eventually broke free while Yackey and Roe raced alongside one another, but both remained close behind the leader. Then, Johnson spun, turning the top spot over to Yackey. Yackey immediately opened a sizable advantage while Roe settled into second and began chipping away at the lead. Further back, Webb and Vanderwal steadily closed the distance while battling one another, with Vanderwal briefly gaining the advantage.

Roe continued to creep into Yackey's orbit, shaving nearly a tenth of a second off the deficit with each passing lap. Meanwhile, Webb got the upper hand in his fight with Vanderwal and sliced into third, but the real battle was developing at the front. By the time the white flag waved, Roe had cut Yackey's advantage to less than a truck-length. With two corners remaining, Roe mounted one final charge, but couldn't quite make it happen. Yackey held him off and crossed the stripe first, with Roe taking second and Webb rounding out the podium.

Fast Dash – 10 Laps

The No. 15 of Danny Medina defended the front row against the No. 68 of Wyatt Dent, leaping into the lead as Dent dropped to fifth and opened the door for the No. 32 of Cody Milan and No. 14S of Austin Steinke to take second and third. Steinke steadily worked his way forward and challenged Medina for the lead, finally taking control on Lap 4. From there, Steinke settled into the top spot, while Milan had to defend against a hard-charging No. 5R of Reagan Fruge. Dent held onto the final spot in the top five, staying ahead of the No. 00 of Chris Saykally as the race reached three laps to go. Steinke continued to outrun Medina through the closing circuits and crossed the stripe out front to claim the Fast Dash victory.

Dash – 10 Laps

The No. 27C of Steven Nester took the early lead, while the No. 4W of Stuart Wilkerson poured on the pressure. Wilkerson took control, but a crash involving the leaders knocked them out of the running order and turned the top spot over to the No. 2 of Dutch Vanderwal. Vanderwal shot out front when the race went green following a brief red flag to address the incident, while the No. 56 of Nick Gunther overtook for P2. The No. 73 of Mike Markison went high looking for a way around the No. 71 of Jason Scott for fourth, but backed out and fell into line in fifth.

Up front, Vanderwal continued to lead, though Gunther steadily erased the deficit with each passing lap. Gunther rode right up on Vanderwal's rear bumper through the turns, only to lose some of that ground on the straights. Then, a single race car spun and impeded the racing surface, slowing the action once again. With a green-white-checkered finish on the horizon, Vanderwal fired back to the point while the No. 19 of Dominic Moss and Gunther battled hard for the runner-up spot, as Markison moved into fourth. Vanderwal held firm through the sprint to the stripe and emerged victorious from a wild Dash.

Feature – 25 Laps

A whopping 32 Legends took the green flag, with the No. 03 of Darrell Stewart launching into the lead and pulling the No. 6 of Scotty Scott along behind him, while Fruge lurked in third. The No. 17K of Marc Karashinski suddenly plummeted through the running order when the hood of his race car flew up and obscured his vision. As Karashinski left the racing surface, Scott got a run on Stewart with help from Fruge, and both powered past. Stewart continued to slide backward as Scott assumed control, but Fruge quickly took advantage of lapped traffic to demote Scott and take the lead. Medina also marched forward, while Steinke steadily worked his way into contention and began tracking down the leader.

Try as he might, Fruge couldn't shake Steinke as the pair picked their way through heavy lapped traffic. Fruge made contact with a slower car but managed to keep his race car pointed in the right direction. Shortly afterward, a caution waved for a car in Turn 3 on Lap 13, resetting the field and erasing Fruge's advantage. Fruge defended his lead against Steinke through the opening two turns of the restart, but Steinke found his groove and powered past on the low side. Fruge gave chase while Medina solidified himself in third. Dent nudged his way back into the top five, followed by Stewart.

With five laps remaining, Steinke had opened his advantage to just over half a second. Fruge did his best to chase him through traffic, but slower cars complicated his mission as the laps wound down. On Lap 21, Steinke remained firmly in control. Fruge continued to shadow him but was rapidly running out of time to turn that momentum into a pass. Steinke led to the checkers, stretching his advantage to 0.875 seconds at the finish. Fruge came home, while Medina rounded out the podium.

Puzzle Effect Bandoleros

At CNS, the Bandoleros division showcases the youngest racers on the track - some just eight years old! The pint-sized drivers cut their teeth at 30 to 50 mph on a shortened course that loops through Turns 1 and 2 of the “big” track before diving into the infield and circling back around. Like the drivers themselves, the races may be small, but they pack a punch, and they’re a vital part of the CNS family.

Outlaw Dash – 12 Laps

The No. 95J of Jaxon Muhler leap-frogged the No. 07 of Madison Stanley to take the lead on the opening lap, while the No. 23M of Izaak Mead and No. 09 of Kayden Willey followed farther back. Muhler was held up behind a lapped car early, allowing Stanley and Mead to close the distance. As Muhler dealt with slower traffic, Mead moved into P2, demoting Stanley as he set out after the leader.

Now Muhler had to spend almost as much time watching his rearview mirror as his windshield. When a lapped car impeded his preferred line, Muhler was forced to swing wide, opening the door for Mead to take the lead and Stanley to move into second. Muhler subsequently spun and dropped out of the top five, leaving Mead in control. Mead completed the remaining circuits to win, leading Stanley across the stripe while Willey rounded out the podium.

Outlaw Feature – 15 Laps

After a chaotic start, Stanley emerged with the lead, although a caution flew on Lap 3 when debris from a race car impeded the racing surface. When the green flag returned, Stanley picked up where she left off, outrunning Muhler and Mead at the front of the field. Mead soon mounted a charge around the outside and demoted Stanley to second, but the No. 07 wasn't about to let him get away without a fight. Stanley fired back with a pass on the high side but couldn't make it stick. She settled behind Mead and continued stalking the leader as the laps wound down.

Mead looked to be on rails in his preferred groove, continuing to hold Stanley at bay despite her persistent challenge. Stanley overshot her mark heading toward the white flag, finally giving Mead some breathing room and allowing the No. 23M to extend his advantage and take the victory.

Bandit Dash – 10 Laps

The No. 28P of Hayden Powers surged to a healthy lead, while the No. 15S of Declan Shaw had to hold off the No. 35 of Maverick Arechiga, who wore out his rear bumper searching for any way around. However, as lapped traffic loomed, Arechiga lost some ground. On Lap 4, a caution waved after a car struck the wall in Turn 1. Powers and Shaw returned to the front row for the restart, but it didn't take long for Powers to gallop back out front and begin laying down some distance on the rest of the field. Arechiga plummeted to P5 as the No. 27 of Logan Harlow moved ahead of him and set his sights on the leaders. Powers remained untouchable through the closing laps, crossing the stripe after leading flag-to-flag to take the Bandit Dash victory.

Bandit Feature – 12 Laps

The No. 28P of Hayden Powers avoided trouble on the opening lap and immediately opened a comfortable advantage over the No. 35 of Maverick Arechiga, with the No. 3 of Logan Torrez following behind. Up front, Powers continued to outrun Arechiga even as lapped traffic grew heavier through the turns. Powers expertly slithered his way through the slower cars without missing a beat, while Arechiga became mired in traffic and began losing ground. There was no catching Powers from there. He completed the final circuits and crossed the stripe first to take the Bandit Feature victory, while the pack unraveled behind him on the final lap as multiple drivers got together racing toward the finish.

Lowry Insurance Trains

Feature – 8 Laps

The No. 99 J&H Livestock Red Headed Stepchild started on the front row alongside the No. 80HD SNAFU. SNAFU powered to the lead in short order while the No. 41G J&H Livestock Funny Farm battled Read Headed Stepchild for second, all leaving the No. 22 Hot Mess Express in the dust. Funny Farm overtook Red Headed Stepchild and lid out after SNAFU, pressuring them for the race lead. A tire separated from Red Headed Stepchild, then struck it heading back through The X around the next corner, getting the fans on their feet. Up front, Funny Farm and SNAFU took their battle right down to the checkers. SNAFU put up a valiant effort and crossed the line just a hair’s breadth ahead of Funny Farm.

Train Feature: No. 80HD, SNAFU
