Championship season is in full swing at Colorado National Speedway, and neither a little rain nor a long night could keep our track quiet for long on September 19^th, 2026. The weather did its best to interrupt the action, but our fans stuck with us through the delay and were rewarded with a fantastic night of racing from the Pro Trucks, Grand American Modifieds, Pure Stocks, and Figure 8s. With championships and Rookie of the Year honors on the line, every position mattered, and our drivers delivered plenty of drama right down to the final checkered flags.

Matco Tools Pro Trucks

Feature – 50 Laps

The 2026 Pro Truck championship came down to this, with the No. 16 of Travis Roe and No. 22 of Brian Yackey each looking to wrap up the title. But when the green flag dropped, it was the No. 86 of Tim Coate leading the field before the No. 34 of Rudy Vanderwal quickly surged ahead. The No. 43 of Kody Vanderwal climbed into third while Roe slipped to sixth, and it wasn’t long before the younger Vanderwal picked off the No. 9 of Curtis Heldenbrand to take second. Yackey, meanwhile, cracked the top five and set his sights on the No. 29 of Dalton Webb, with every position carrying championship implications. Up front, Kody Vanderwal reeled in his dad and spent several laps making the No. 34 work for the lead. Yackey was making progress of his own, gaining on Webb and Heldenbrand and advancing to P4 by Lap 15. Webb didn’t make it easy, but Yackey kept marching forward.

Kody Vanderwal eventually cleared his father and began pulling away, while the field tightened behind him. For several precarious laps, Rudy Vanderwal, Heldenbrand, Yackey, and Webb were close enough to throw a blanket over before the group finally began to string out. Yackey worked his way past Heldenbrand and set his sights on the two Vanderwals ahead. Roe, meanwhile, quietly held P6 and stayed out of trouble as the championship battle unfolded around him. Yackey eventually muscled his way past Rudy Vanderwal for second, but catching the leader was another matter. Kody Vanderwal held a 3.389-second advantage, and with lapped traffic ahead, Yackey had little room for error. Behind them, Roe began closing on Heldenbrand and Rudy Vanderwal as he tried to break into the top five. The pair initially kept him shut out, but Roe eventually found his way through. By Lap 40, Yackey had trimmed the leader’s advantage to just over 2.8 seconds, while Roe had moved into the top five. Roe then overtook Rudy Vanderwal for P4, strengthening his position as the laps dwindled.

With three laps left on the board, Kody Vanderwal still had a firm grip on the lead. Yackey continued to chip away at the deficit but simply ran out of time. Kody Vanderwal crossed the stripe first to take the victory, while Yackey brought it home second. But Roe’s fourth-place finish was enough to seal the deal, crowning the No. 16 driver the 2026 Pro Truck champion. The No. 77 of Calvin Schut capped off his season by earning Rookie of the Year honors.

Feature – 50 Laps

Just as the Grand American Modified field headed onto the track for its final feature of the season, the rain came down with a vengeance. Our drivers and fans stuck it out, though, and before long, the No. 2 of Steven Rodenbaugh and No. 24 of Nathan Gasser led the field to green. Rodenbaugh sliced into the early lead with Gasser in hot pursuit, while the No. 51 of Cade Fox went to work in the high groove, picking off several competitors on his way to fifth. Gasser steadily ate into Rodenbaugh’s advantage as the No. 8 of Dan Alamaa climbed into P3. The top five separated themselves from the rest of the pack, while points leader Ryan Jones sat comfortably in sixth aboard the No. 21, waiting for an opportunity to move forward. Gasser brought the fight directly to Rodenbaugh and completed the pass in Turn 4 on Lap 11. Alamaa followed him through, relegating Rodenbaugh to third before the former leader continued to lose ground.

By Lap 16, Alamaa and Fox traded shots for second. Fox eventually gained the upper hand and turned his attention to Gasser, while Jones remained planted in P6. As the leaders approached lapped traffic, Fox returned to the high groove and used the momentum to reel in Gasser. He made short work of the No. 24 and swept into the lead. Fox began weaving through slower traffic and built an advantage of more than a second by the halfway point. Then, on Lap 27, the complexion of the championship battle changed dramatically. Jones made contact with another competitor, sending both cars spinning in Turn 2 and bringing out the caution. Both involved drivers were sent to the rear of the field, putting the points leader in a precarious position with the title on the line.

Things got even messier on the restart when six cars piled into Turn 2, prompting a brief red flag. By the time racing resumed, Jones was already in P4. Fox remained out front, but contact with another competitor soon knocked the leader off the pace and handed the top spot back to Gasser. Fox ultimately retired from the race, leaving Gasser at the point with Jones briefly running close behind. Alamaa and the No. 66 of John Seely soon worked their way past Jones, dropping the championship favorite back to fourth. Gasser began stretching his advantage over Alamaa, while Jones found himself locked in another fight, this time with the No. 89 of Jacob Smith. Smith completed the pass with just two laps remaining, relegating Jones to fifth. But despite everything that had happened over the previous 48 laps, the championship was still firmly in his grasp.

Gasser completed the last few turns to capture his first victory of the season, while Jones brought the No. 21 home fifth to secure his maiden Grand American Modified championship. The No. 68 of Wyatt Dent, meanwhile, finished eighth and capped off his season with Rookie of the Year honors.

Feature 1 – 20 Laps

The No. 04 of Aric Durand tried to wrestle the lead away from the No. 08 of Tanner McKim at the start, but McKim dropped to the lower groove and drove away with the advantage. The No. 52 of Nic Wall settled into P3 ahead of the No. 16J of Jake Johnson, while the No. 24 of Kolby Humphrey had his hands full with the No. 14 of Jeff Yenisch in the fight for the final top-five position. Yenisch dug into the upper groove, but Humphrey fought tooth and nail to stay ahead of him down low. Then, the complexion of the race suddenly changed. Points leader McKim appeared to suffer a mechanical issue that sent the No. 08 hard into the Turn 4 fence, bringing out the caution. His race car required a hook to be removed from the racing surface, ending McKim's Feature early. However, his substantial points advantage entering the night kept him in strong championship position despite the setback. The incident handed the lead to Durand and threw a spotlight on the Rookie of the Year battle. Durand and Wall, the two drivers fighting for the honor, lined up alongside one another on the front row when racing resumed on Lap 6.

Durand wasted little time getting ahead with Wall on his heels, while the field went three-wide for third. Johnson emerged with the position as the No. 00 of Dylan Jaramillo worked his way into fourth. Durand began stretching his advantage while the pack raced two-wide behind him, jostling for every available position. Contact between two cars in Turn 2 brought out another caution on Lap 12. Durand again escaped with the lead on the restart, but Wall remained close in second with Jaramillo knocking on the door. The No. 19Y of Justin Young Jr. lost ground as the No. 1 of Derek Spalding joined the fight for a spot in the top five. By Lap 17, Wall had reeled Durand back in and began applying heavy pressure. Behind them, Young and Jaramillo were locked together in another close fight for position. With two laps remaining, Wall finally made his move. He pulled alongside Durand and executed the pass through Turn 4, taking the lead at precisely the right moment. Wall held the advantage through the final corners and crossed the stripe first, earning the Feature victory and valuable ground in the Rookie of the Year battle.

Feature 2 – 25 Laps

Humphrey initially grabbed the lead, while the No. 29 of Trevor Hermosillo worked the high groove and emerged ahead at the completion of the first lap. The No. 54 of Giovanni Scimeca quickly carved his way through the field, surging into the lead on Lap 4 and immediately setting a blistering pace. Hermosillo gave chase while simultaneously dealing with pressure from Spalding. Wall, fresh off his Feature 1 victory and still fighting for Rookie of the Year honors, ran P6 by Lap 9. Durand was also moving forward, leap-frogging Spalding before eventually climbing into second behind Scimeca. Spalding later made contact with another competitor and dropped out of the top five, while Hermosillo remained in the hunt near the front.

The Rookie of the Year fight took another dramatic turn when Wall spun after contact with a competitor and narrowly avoided further trouble on the front stretch. Following the incident, Wall and Jaramillo were sent to the rear of the field, while Yenisch and McKim moved into the top five. With only two laps remaining, the field returned to green. Scimeca immediately reclaimed his rhythm out front, while Durand fought to secure the runner-up position against a hard-charging Hermosillo. Scimeca held them both off and crossed the stripe first to capture the Feature victory. Behind him, McKim completed a remarkable recovery from his Feature 1 misfortune, charging through the field to finish third and secure the 2026 Pure Stock championship. Durand's runner-up finish, meanwhile, sealed the 2026 Pure Stock Rookie of the Year honor.

Feature 1 – 15 Laps

The No. 15 of Jereme Wall only had to outrun the No. 3 of Michael Wolfe Jr. to lock down his 10th championship, but as soon as the green flag dropped, Wolfe began reeling him in as the two broke away from the rest of the pack. The No. 8 of Beau Kellogg held down P3, and by Lap 2, action in The X was already heating up as traffic began converging from opposite directions. Wolfe pulled alongside Wall and gained the upper hand on Lap 4, but Wall stayed close in second until the leaders began catching slower traffic. Wolfe opened a three car-length advantage, then stretched it even further as they came around with eight laps remaining. Kellogg, meanwhile, had several close calls in The X as cars tried to shoot the gaps through traffic. The crossroads nearly spelled trouble for the leaders, too, as they picked their openings and sent it, but the field did what it does best and put on a thrilling show without making contact.

By Lap 9, Wall had fallen nearly two seconds behind as Wolfe expertly navigated lapped traffic and continued stretching his advantage. Kellogg found himself trapped in a tight grouping of cars, surrendering P3 to the No. 38 of Javon Barnard before also falling behind the No. 18 of Dennis Stepanich II. Nobody could catch Wolfe up front. He completed the final circuits to earn his eighth victory of the season, crossing the stripe 3.822 seconds ahead of Wall and setting the stage for a dramatic conclusion to the 2026 Figure 8 season with one Feature remaining.

Feature 2 – 20 Laps

Wolfe and Wall entered the final points-paying Figure 8 race of the season with their eyes firmly fixed on the 2026 championship. But it was the No. 26 of Nick Martinez and No. 20 of Isaiah Proctor leading the field to green, with Martinez breaking free to lead the opening lap as Kellogg applied pressure from behind. Wall and Wolfe soon found themselves in the middle of a four-wide battle through The X. Then, on Lap 2, disaster struck for both championship contenders. Wall and Wolfe were swept up in the same crash, with Wolfe heading off the racing surface and into the pits to address damage to his car. Wall was able to continue, leaving Proctor and Kellogg at the front, followed by Martinez in P3 and Wall in fourth.

With Wolfe still off track, Wall began carving his way forward and had advanced to second by Lap 7. He shot a gap through The X in pursuit of Proctor as the laps ticked away, but a debris caution on Lap 9 erased Proctor's advantage and put the championship contender directly on his doorstep. With 10 laps remaining, Proctor fought hard to defend the lead from Wall. He initially held his ground, but Wall kept applying pressure until he finally completed the pass with seven laps to go. Now out front, Wall still had to make split-second decisions through The X to avoid traffic traveling in the opposite direction, even as the field thinned following the earlier incidents. Wall survived the final circuits and crossed the stripe first, putting an exclamation point on an extraordinary season by securing his 10th Figure 8 championship and fourth consecutive title.
