Deines, Ray, Yackey, and Whitman, score big during Colorado Christian University Night

(08-15-2015 Dacono Colorado) – In an almost caution free night dominating performances were turned from Adam Deines in the Pro Trucks, Kyle Ray in the Grand American Modifieds, and Brett “the Maverick” Yackey in the Super Stocks. The closest race of the night was in the Mod Coupes where Randy Whitman barely held off Ron O’Neil to take the win. The windy but warm evening was topped off with the DEMOX cars and trucks that featured a fire and two complete rollovers that that the fans buzzing.

Snap-On Tools Pro Trucks

Of all the divisions at CNS none have been more exciting and dramatic than the Snap-On Tools Pro Trucks. Longmont’s own Adam Deines picked up his 3rd win in a row and 4th on the season during Colorado Christian Night at CNS. In doing so Adam has now caught Rudy Vanderwal in the points chase and the two drivers are tied with 314 points a piece moving into the final stages of the season.

Deines started on the pole for the 30 lap Pro Truck feature and quickly jumped out to a large lead over #11 Steve Johnson. #2 AJ Warren dispatched Johnson to take 2nd and #34 Rudy Vanderwal grabbed 3rd. The battle for 2nd and 3rd position would be contested throughout the entire race while Deines ran comfortably alone upfront.

When the checkered flew it was Deines taking the win with Warren finishing an impressive 2nd place. Vanderwal maintained 3rd place with Burton in 4th. The final spot in the top 5 went to #82 Michael Scott.

Not only is the battle for the championship one of the best we have seen in years but also the battle for rookie of the year is heating up with #47 Jesse Seigal in 5th place with 210 points and #65 George Green in 6th with 194 points.

SUNOCO Fuels Grand American Modifieds

Kyle Ray who struggled in the fast dash found himself on the pole position for the 25 lap Sunoco-Fuels Grand American Modified feature event. At the start of the race and after a very brief battle for the lead with #0 Ron O’Neil, Ray set sail. Ray settled into his groove and literally checked-out, putting an entire half of a lap between he and his nearest competitor.

Meanwhile #95 Cris Muhler who had started deep in the field worked his way up to battle O’Neil for the 2nd spot. Muhler would get around O’Neil as did #77 Jeff Hansen taking the 3rd position. Yet by this point Ray was so far out in front there wouldn’t be enough time for Muhler and Hansen to catch him. This was one of several races on the night that went caution-free which didn’t help Muhler and Hansen’s efforts in catching Ray who took the easy win. Muhler finished 2nd and Hansen 3rd. #44 Justin Case finished 4th with O’Neil settled for the 5th spot.

Great Scotts Eatery Super Stocks

Brett Yackey had a dominating performance in the Great Scott’s Eatery Super Stocks setting quick-time, winning the fast dash and capping off the night with the feature win. Yackey could do no wrong even in the pill-draw which gave him the pole position in the feature event.

The “Maverick” would waste no time putting distance between himself and the rest of the field at the start of the feature event. The only cars within a straightaway of the leader were #3 Michael Cox and #75 Levi Greenly.

As the race wound down Greenly would catch and pass Cox for 2nd place but neither driver had anything for Yackey who cruised to the win and extended his points lead over Cox to 19. In the race which went green from flag to flag the final top 5 finishers were: Yackey, Greenly, Cox, #9 John Patee and #9 Curtis Heldenbrand.

Galitz Trucking Mod Coupes

Only 6 Mod Coupes lined-up for the 20 lap feature event but that didn’t stop them from putting on the best race of the night. #90 Frank Denning III was on the front row with 6d Rick Duckworth along side and when the green flag flew it was a 4 car battle for the lead with #34 Randy Whitman and #3 Ron O’Neil.

After several laps Whitman took control of the race and built a massive lead on the field. It seemed like this race might be all but over due to Whitman’s massive lead yet with just a handful of laps to go Jamie Trengrove spun in turn 2 bringing out the caution.
