Exhaust Pros Northglenn Delivers The ‘Sweet Sound Of Thunder’ At CNS

There’s nothing better than watching a horde of race cars thunder across the asphalt at Colorado National Speedway, and on June 21st, 2025, our fans were treated to just that. We had some incredible car counts, and it’s great to see so many competitors try their hand at the fastest oval track this side of the West. Our Super Stocks, Pro Trucks, Late Models, and Figure 8 drivers put on a hell of a show – and fans that stuck out the heat in the daytime were treated to some awesome racing at our always-affordable prices. And just to sweeten the deal, sponsor Exhaust Pros Northglenn generously gave every Feature winner a $50 product certificate.

Outside of racing action, CNS hosted – for the first time in track history – a gender reveal! The overjoyed couple enlisted the help of Curtis Heldenbrand, driver of the No. 9 Pro Truck, to help them spread the news. It’s a girl, by the way, and we can’t wait to see her in the grandstands when she’s old enough! She’s already got a taste of racing, and that’s the stuff that builds lifetime fans.

In case you weren’t there in the stands, or on the track, or just want to relive Saturday’s insane action, keep on reading below.

Gender Reveal at Colorado National Speedway

MATCO Tools Pro Trucks

Fast Dash – 10 Laps

Curtis Heldenbrand led the charge out of Turn 4 in his No. 9 machine, settling into an easy lead while a battle for P2 shaped up between the No. 50 of Tyler Wiggans and the No. 16 of Travis Roe. As Heldenbrand laid down some distance, Roe mounted a charge on the outside of Wiggans to take second. The two battled wheel-to-wheel, nearly touching, until Roe finally found the speed needed to complete the pass. Heldenbrand continued to lead without challenge from Roe.

Dash – 10 Laps

Chris Nelson in the No. 21 easily took control of the race after starting on the pole, but soon had his hands full of Brian Weinmaster’s No. 28. Weinmaster easily paced Nelson, pulling alongside him, and took away the top spot on Lap 5 right at the line. Now clear of Nelson, Weinmaster set the pace and continued to lead until the checkers fell.

Feature – 30 Laps

Brian Yackey’s No. 22 and Rudy Vanderwal’s No. 34 led the 19-truck field to the green flag for the PT Feature. While Yackey gained a slight advantage on the first lap, Vanderwal fired back, kicking off a lengthy wheel-to-wheel battle for the lead. Behind them, Wiggans and the No. 1F machine of Happy Ferree raced two abreast for P3. With the top four locked in a dead heat for position, Vanderwal muscled ahead of Yackey, just slightly. Roe held down fifth place all by himself behind them. Nobody was willing to give up an inch in any direction, and everyone held valiantly onto their positions. Vanderwal settled into the outside lane, defending the lead against a hard-charging Yackey, before finally breaking away from the pack and gaining some breathing room.

Yackey began to plummet. He was passed by Ferree, and then Heldenbrand, nearly colliding with another truck in Turn 3 as he faded. An apparent issue forced him to halt on the backstretch, triggering a caution. This put Vanderwal on the front row alongside Wiggans. Vanderwal maintained the lead, but just barely; Wiggans stuck to him like glue, not allowing him to get away with an advantage. Heldenbrand, meanwhile, put Ferree behind him for third place and began quietly stalking the leaders.

Just past the halfway point, Wiggans passed Vanderwal for the lead. They began a duel for the top spot, allowing Heldenbrand to cut the distance on both of them. They lined back up for a restart after a multi-truck incident on Lap 22. Heldenbrand slotted in behind Vanderwal, muscling his way past the No. 34 machine once they’d gotten up to speed after the caution. Vanderwal began to fade, falling in behind Roe. Heldenbrand continued his steady forward march, but by this point, Wiggans had run off with the lead. Heldenbrand tried everything he could to cut the distance but couldn’t make it work, and it was Wiggans out front at the line.

Fast Dash: No. 9, Curtis Heldenbrand

Dash: No. 28, Brian Weinmaster

Feature: No. 50, Tyler Wiggans

Late Models

Fast Dash – 10 Laps

Dan Alamaa set his No. 8 out front for an early lead, while the No. 18 of Casey Wiggans and the No. 40 of Brandon Newey went at it for second place. However, Wiggans could not hold the line and quickly fell to sixth place. The No. 1 of Caleb Johnson muscled his way into third, tracking Alamaa and Newey under threat from the No. 06 of Ben Hendricks. Alamaa rounded the track one last time to take the win with Newey hot on his heels; Johnson took third in a dead heat to the finish.

Dash – 10 Laps

The LM field tried to go three-wide as soon as the green flag fell. When the dust settled, the No. 15 of Michael Hannah sorted into the lead, but not without contest from the No. 48 of Mikey Blackard. The No 32 of Joseph Andrade suddenly surged past them all and chipped into Hannah’s lead. Incredible battles gripped the frontrunners, lasting to the white flag, where Hannah drag-raced Andrade to the line, barely claiming the lead at the stripe. In fact, just 0.048 seconds separated them.

Feature – 30 Laps

Hendricks assumed an early lead – at least until the No. 99 of Tessa Marine fired back, challenging Hendricks for the top spot. Johnson, meanwhile, settled into third, searching for an opportunity to take a shot at the leaders. As Marine overtook Hendricks for the lead, Johnson saw his chance and demoted Hendricks, too. He set out after Marine and slowly cut into her advantage. By Lap 9, he’d reeled her in, using up every inch of track he could to get by her. After a brief side-by-side fight, Johnson nudged his race car to the point and began to gap his competitors.

The 12-car field settled into a single-file line. Alamaa took advantage of Hendricks, who drifted high, allowing Alamaa to slide into P3. By this point, Johnson had extended his lead by a straightaway, putting more distance down as he navigated lapped traffic. Johnson hit his marks from there, cruising to the checkers after a clean race, earning his first victory at CNS at just 16 years old. That victory entitled him to a $250 certificate from our friends at 5280 Pit Lighting – a perk that they’ve handed out for three weeks in a row as new winners continue to show their stuff at CNS.

Quick Time: No. 1, Caleb Johnson, 17.519

Pueblo Bank & Trust Super Stocks

Fast Dash – 10 Laps

AJ Hill pushed the No. 22 to the front right away, leaving the No. 11W of Scott Long and the No. OH6 of Mahkrysta Hilton to battle for second place. Before the field could get up to speed, a multicar incident triggered a caution, involving several frontrunners. Hill restarted alongside the No. 33 of Dillyn Kellogg. Kellogg thundered into the lead despite a challenge from Hill with the No. 49 of Chris Cox right behind them both. Then, another incident occurred in Turn 2, during which a tire separated from the involved race car and went bouncing down the banking, narrowly avoiding the field – much to the delight of the fans. Hill got the lead on the restart, but Cox quickly took the spot away and took the win in the closing laps.

Dash – 10 Laps

After a hectic start, the No. 25 of Daniel Gasser assumed control of the race – at least, until the No. 32Y of Brett Yackey charged from near the back of the pack to the front to take the position away. Anthony Albrandt put his No. 13 past Gasser, who continued to slip in the standings. Albrandt locked Yackey in his sights with only a few laps left on the board, but there wasn’t enough time to complete the pass, and Yackey was first at the line.

Feature – 25 Laps

Thirty-three – yes, you read that right! – Super Stocks took the green flag, but with a field that big, anything can happen. And it did in the first turn of the first lap, when a massive pileup occurred, triggering a red flag. (Years of research have provided us with concrete evidence that races cannot, in fact, be won on the first lap, nor can they be won if that first lap is not completed…)

With everything cleaned up, the No. 61 of John Humphrey and Long held down the front row heading to the green flag. Kellogg overtook Long for second, although Cox made himself known and demoted them both, settling into P2 as Kyle Stidham’s No. 97 also overtook Kellogg. It didn’t take long for Cox to overtake Humphrey for the lead. Humphrey didn’t let the position go without a fight, hanging onto Cox until a yellow waved for another multicar incident.

Humphrey reclaimed the lead on the restart, but Cox rallied back and muscled his way past him, taking over the top spot. Yackey passed Stidham for third, then started working on Humphrey. Humphrey defended his position for all he was worth but ultimately found himself overtaken, falling to third as Yackey claimed P2. Up front, Cox showed the way until yet another wreck impeded the racing surface on Lap 24. The race was declared official and Cox was credited with the victory.

Quick Time: No. 32Y, Brett Yackey, 19.569

Fast Dash: No. 49, Chris Cox

Dash: No. 32Y, Brett Yackey

Feature: No. 49, Chris Cox

Exhaust Pros Northglenn Figure 8s

Fast Dash – 10 Laps

The F8 field wasted no time in going three-wide. The No. 3 of Michael Wolfe Jr. elbowed his way into the lead, although the No. 15 of Jereme Wall quickly overtook two competitors for second place. From there, it didn’t take him long to pick off Wolfe, too, settling into the lead after a tense fight for a few laps. Wolfe, locked in a battle with the No. 18 of Dennis Stepanich III, lost ground on Wall, tailing him across the line as Wall captured the Dash win.

Feature – 20 Laps

Isaiah Proctor’s No. 20 started the feature from the front row alongside the No. 71 of Isaac Martinez, but when the green fell, it was Martinez to the point as Proctor plummeted. Stepanich briefly assumed the lead after starting near the back of the field. But after starting from the back of the pack, Jereme Wall had already muscled his way up to second place, tailed by the No. 64 of Michael Kephart in P3. The No. 52 of Jared Wall entered the conversation between Wolf and Kephart, stalking them both from fifth place. Up front, Jereme Wall swerved around the F8 course, picking his way through The X around drivers headed the opposite direction while Kephart, Wolfe, and Jared Wall scrapped for third. Stepanich tracked Jereme Wall to no avail, unable to cut the distance. After a few close calls in the crossroads, Jereme Wall rounded the twisting course for the final time and crossed under the checkers with a large advantage over Stepanich for the victory.

Thanks for beating the heat with us at CNS last weekend! We promise once the sun goes down, it cools off enough to be quite pleasant, but the racing stays hot as ever. This coming week, we’re welcoming everyone to our special Super Late Model event, supported by Pure Stocks, Legends, Bandoleros, Trains …. And FIREWORKS! Pick up advance tickets here.
