Builders Warehouse Building Excitement Night Celebrates Labor Day, CNS-Style

August 31, 2025 - Dacono, CO

On a beautiful Saturday night, Colorado National Speedway lit up with excitement, engines, and fireworks on August 31st, 2025 for our annual Labor Day spectacular. To sweeten the pot, we nixed our usual Dash races, running double-header Features for the Super Stocks, Grand American Modifieds, Super Late Models, and Figure 8s – and the packed house of fans almost never sat down, celebrating well into the night as our drivers put on a thrilling show. Trains rounded out the night, and fireworks lit up the sky, a CNS holiday signature. If you weren’t there in person to witness the on-track fireworks, we’ve rounded up all the action below.

PB&T Bank Super Stocks

Feature 1 – 20 Laps

A massive – and quite colorful – field of 34 Super Stock race cars took the green flag for the first of two Feature events, jostling for position two-wide through the field as they dove through the first corner. The No. 9 of Brent Cave led the first lap with Jordan Abeyta’s No. 23 knocking on his door, but just two laps in, a yellow waved for a single car high in Turn 2. When the race restarted, Abeyta once again took aim at Cave. The two traded the top spot, evenly matched for a few laps until Cave finally found the advantage and settled into the lead. As Cave set sail and Abeyta fell into his wake, the No. 75 of Emilio Abeyta began to fade, losing his grip on the top three as he washed up and began to plummet. Behind him, the No. 49 of Chris Cox – having started mid-pack – began chipping his way into the top five. The No. 12S of Shawn Sulley tussled with the No. 18Y of Justin Young in third and fourth. Young managed to hang onto the position by a thread, while Sulley fell back into the clutches of the No. 11W of Scott Long. Then, a multicar incident triggered a yellow flag on Lap 13; Cave once again put the hammer down and sailed back into the lead when the green fell. Abeyta renewed his efforts to try and take the lead away, searching high and low for a way to get around Cave. Dillyn Kellogg’s No. 33 quietly slipped into third, demoting both Young and Sulley – at least, until he lost the back end of his race car and surrendered the position back to Sulley, settling into fourth. Meanwhile, as Cox finally cracked the top five, Cave continued to lead, picking up the victory over Abeyta – a fitting birthday present.

Feature 2 – 25 Laps

Getting out of the gate cleanly, the No. 32 of Rick Phillips took early control of the race, followed by the No. 61 of John Humphrey as he overtook Emilio Abeyta for second. There was some beating and banging going on mid-pack, resulting in one race car spinning out and another scraping the wall, and then Kellogg’s race car presented with an issue and slowed, resetting the pack for a restart. Phillips once again defended the lead with the No. 8 of Adam Hilton in hot pursuit, while Emilio Abeyta and Humphrey fought for third. Emilio Abeyta captured the position and pulled Cox through the hole. Phillips, meanwhile, held onto the lead.

Cox shouldered his way into P3 as Emilio Abeyta slipped backward, falling out of the top five. Hilton managed to claw his way to Phillips’ rear bumper and began pressuring him for the lead. The field stacked up, resulting in Cox spinning, but the race stayed green. Long entered the conversation for second with Hilton as Phillips did everything in his power to block them – but his bid for the win was cut off when a chain reaction sent Long and Phillips for a spin. Hilton inherited the lead, but here came Cave – a man on a mission to sweep the night’s Features, even though he started mid-pack. After a chaotic few laps, Hilton lit out after Cave, but not without pressure from Jordan Abeyta, who hunted them both from third place. Cave dove into heavy traffic, putting a slower car between himself and Jordan Abeyta, who picked off Hilton and began working on Cave. He ran out of time to make a move, though – when the checkers fell, Cave was well out front, sending his race car practically sideways through the final turn on his way to sweep both Feature events.

Quick Time: No. 82, Ian Clark, 19.569

Feature 1: No. 9, Brent Cave

Feature 2: No. 9, Brent Cave

Sunoco Grand American Modifieds

Feature 1 – 15 Laps

The first of two GAM Features got off to a rocky start with a multicar pileup on the first lap – and then, when the field was lined up to give it another shot, a second crash slowed the field. The No. 9 of CJ Wilson managed to evade the insanity and emerged as the leader, holding onto the position when the race restarted once more. Wilson shook the second-place starter, the No. 4X of Lynn Hardy, who had his hands full of the No. 08 of Jace Hansen. Hansen lunged to the inside of Hardy, taking away second place while Hardy settled into third; behind them, the No. 51F of Cade Fox and the No. 66R of Eric Rhead had a score to settle for fourth. Wilson, Hansen, and Hardy broke away from the rest of the pack, a three-car herd battling for the lead. Fox managed to get the upper hand in his battle with Rhead. Hardy took back second place, cutting Hansen’s forward charge off and taking control of second place himself. As the checkers loomed, Hardy clung to Wilson’s rear bumper, trying to find an advantage and the right moment to slingshot around him. But he ran out of laps as Wilson cruised around the final two turns to snag his first-ever GAM victory.

Feature 2 – 30 Laps

As if their first Feature wasn’t exciting enough, the GAMs took to the track for the second time of the night, following the No. 3 of Jeremiah Hill and the No. 41 of Eric Vos to the green flag. While Hill gained control of the race, Hansen charged from his third-row starting position, rapidly closing the gap on Hill. In a few short laps, Hansen had Hill in his clutches, and the two raced wheel-to-wheel, neither willing to cede an inch of pavement though the race was still young. Then, on Lap 6, Hansen finally gained the upper hand. Hill fired back and cut the distance, but a brush with the backstretch wall evaporated his forward momentum and allowed Hansen to get away with the lead once more. Hardy took advantage of the situation to close in on Hill.

The field settled into a tense single file line until the No. 69 of Forest Smith looked to the inside of Hardy, and their battle became the closest in the field. Smith sealed the deal and began working on Vos; he had fourth place in short order, pulling Hardy past Vos with him. All the while Hansen extended his lead, galloping to the GAM Feature victory. In fact, his win made the GAM division the only division of the night that did not have one driver sweep both races. Meanwhile, Forest Smith – having been involved in an incident in the first Feature – managed to rally back to a second-place result, despite missing much of the bodywork on the front end of his race car.

Guardian Roofing Super Late Models

Feature 1 – 20 Laps

Michael Scott’s No. 82 set the pace early, launching into the lead, but his control was short-lived as Kyle Ray’s No. 58 surged past him. Darren Robertson’s No. 11 and Brett Yackey’s No. 32 battled side-by-side, too, turning the top four into a wheel-to-wheel battleground. Ray managed to nose past Scott, but every time he tried to make it permanent, Scott answered by taking the lead away. Eventually, Ray shouldered his way to the top spot, working the bottom lane, while Brett Yackey finally overtook Robertson. The No. 43 of Kody Vanderwal held onto fifth place behind them, fending off charges from the No. 3C of Cassidy Hinds. Now, the field took up a single lane, except for the battle for ninth between the No. 12 of Bruce Yackey and the No. 24G of Nathan Gasser, which became the most hotly contested position on the track as the laps ticked down. Bruce Yackey took the position away as the white flag waved over Ray. While Scott mounted a valiant charge on the outside lane, Ray would not be denied, leading all the way to the stripe.

Feature 2 – 50 Laps

The longest event of the night went to the SLM field, who eagerly paced behind Gasser and Bruce Yackey, looking for the snap of the green flag. Gasser took control from the start, leading Bruce Yackey as he ditched the field. Then, the No. 22Y of Brian Yackey got by Bruce Yackey for second place, allowing Gasser to gap them even more. Bruce Yackey lost ground, falling in behind a freight train of faster competitors, his windshield full of the back bumper of Vanderwal’s race car. Robertson also overtook him, sliding into fourth, while Vanderwal worked on demoting Brian Yackey for second. You could throw a blanket over most of the top five as they raced side-by-side for position, but as they all fought and scrapped for every shred of real estate, Ray charged through the pack, knocking on the door of the top five on Lap 10. Ray didn’t stop there, though. He continued his relentless forward march, passing Brian Yackey and Vanderwal to claim third. Ray then reeled in Robertson and Gasser, forcing his way into the conversation for the lead. Robertson attempted to overtake Gasser while Ray wore both of their back bumpers out. Robertson managed to edge ahead of Gasser as Vanderwal made it a four-way discussion. Ray cleared Gasser, and then Robertson, putting his No. 58 on top of the scoring pylon just past the halfway point.

Scott, not to be denied, also entered the top five, demoting Brian Yackey to make it happen. Up front, Ray set a blistering pace as Scott kept his race car matted, settling into his preferred high line. Soon, he was running third, and made short work of Robertson, too, taking sole possession of second. Ray maintained a big lead, but he was faced with lapped traffic. Scott continued to make up ground, driving sideways into the corners as he laid it all out, chasing Ray into heavy side-by-side traffic up front. Using the outside lane, Ray navigated slower traffic and kept Scott behind him, all in one go – and he went on to win, sweeping the night’s Feature events in a clean green-to-checkers race.

Exhaust Pros Northglenn Figure 8s

Jereme Wall is so quick, we failed to mention that he and his familiar No. 15 machine set an F8 TRACK RECORD during the division’s qualifying session on August 16th, 2025. His lap 26.876-second lap is the fastest recorded run around the F8 course in CNS history to date. Congratulations to Jereme and his team for the record-setting lap!

Feature 1 – 15 Laps

Speaking of Jereme Wall – he started on the pole for the first F8 feature and quickly took control of the lead. The No. 3 of Michael Wolfe Jr. tried to pull a crossover move, searching for a way around Wall, but couldn’t make it stick. The No. 38 of Javon Barnard and the No. 20 of Isaiah Proctor raced for third; Proctor got away with the position, but just barely. Wall continued to lead as slower traffic entered The X just five laps when Jared Wall’s No. 52 nearly clipped Proctor headed the other direction. The X continued to be a factor as Jereme Wall completely sent it through the crossroads, almost striking slower traffic more than once with daring moves that had the fans on their feet. Wolfe had some close calls, too, his hands full of avoiding slower cars at the same time he was trying to reel in Jereme Wall. Jereme, undeterred, continued to lead to the stripe, leading Wolfe to yet another F8 division victory.

Feature 2 – 20 Laps

Kylan Swenson’s No. 67 shot into the lead with the No. 64 of Michael Kephart close behind, while Wolfe and the No. 18 of Dennis Stepanich battled it out for third place ahead of Jereme Wall, who was already up to fourth after starting seventh. Unfortunately, Swenson’s race car presented with a leak, drawing a black flag and turning the lead to Kephart. Kephart ran for his life through The X as Stepanich overtook Wolfe for P2. Jereme Wall also passed Wolfe as he and Stepanich set out after Kephart. Then, a stalled race car and a spin on the same lap triggered a caution. On the restart, Jereme Wall took control of the race with Wolfe behind him as Stepanich’s race car slowed with an apparent mechanical issue. That allowed Barnard to claim third, battling Proctor for the position. Proctor gained the spot while Jereme Wall and Wolfe separated from the pack, spreading out the field enough for The X to become a factor once again – Jereme narrowly dodged slower traffic. Race cars filtered between each other in the crossroads, once again putting the crowd on its feet. Despite having to swerve around slower traffic, Jereme continued to lead and took his second Feature win of the night, narrowly avoiding a competitor who spun out in The X just as Jereme was crossing through after the checkers.

Lowry Insurance Trains

Feature – 7 Laps

Six Trains took the green flag, and No. 80HD SNAFU powered into the lead as No. 151 Crazy Train struggled to get up to speed. No. 41G Funny Farm took over second place, lighting out after SNAFU around the F8 course. No. 86, Last Call, held down third place. SNAFU got a bit sideways, almost giving Funny Farm an opening, but slammed the door and maintained the lead. Last Call battled No. 91 Friday Night Special for third as SNAFU almost took out the No. 22 Hot Mess Express in The X, but both managed to get away unscathed. Funny Farm closed the gap and pulled alongside SNAFU, the rivals banging doors as the checkers loomed, as SNAFU hung on for the victory over Funny Farm.

Feature: No. 80HD, SNAFU
