Darren Bucklan rides the high groove to his first victory of 2013

Gillet Vet Clinic Super Late Models In one of the more exciting Super Late Model main events in recent memory Darren Bucklan grabbed his first main event win of the 2013 season but by no means was it an easy victory.

When the green flag flew it was #84 Matt Zwinggelberg who pulled out to an early lead over #51 Eric Meisner as the rest of the field shuffled for position. Both #22 Chris Eggleston and #66 Darren Bucklan got around Meisner and Eggleston began to work the low side of Bucklan for 2nd position. During that battle Eggleston spun in turn four and brought out the caution. Chris was sent to the rear of the field effectively ending his chances for the win, although he would eventually work his way back for a top 10 finish.

On the restart Zwingelberg and Bucklan raced side by side for several laps as young Dominic Ursetta in the black #6 poked his nose into the fight. After a great battle Bucklan worked around Zwingelberg as did Ursetta and a new tussle for the lead heated up.

Bucklan rode the high side and Ursetta took the low groove, lap in and lap out these two traded the lead in what was shaping up to be a wild finish. Yet coming out of turn 3 with less than 10 laps remaining Ursetta bobbled and lost spots to #31 Rick Smith and #12 Bruce Yackey.

Bucklan was just too fast for Smith to catch and he went on to win the feature event. Smith took 2nd place, Ursetta got back around Yackey for 3rd and #55 Jesse Runkle secured the 5th spot.

NTC Logistics Super Stocks #13 “Racin” Jason Morris started all the way back in 7th position in the NTC Logistics Super Stock main event but it didn’t take the black and gold Nova long to end up leading the field. Michael Cox in the blue #3 had 2nd spot secured while a great battle for 3rd place heated up between #0 Andrew Muse, #33 Bear Lynch, #46 Rick Lothert, #8 David Gee, #90 Kyle Patee and #88 David Rothrock Jr.

A late caution flag and subsequent restart gave Lynch the chance to move into 2nd place and give Morris a race for the lead and the two drivers put on a great show for the fans. At the finish Morris nipped Lynch to take his second straight main event win in the Super Stock division. Cox settled for 3rd, Mues finished an impressive 4th and Patee grabbed the 5th spot.

RMLRA Legends A massive 33 car field checked in for the RMLRA Legend Car portion of the event and 31 of those cars made it to the feature event. The main event began with several yellow flags as well as a reg flag while the large field of cars tried settle in to the race.

Once the race got going #15 Danny Medina worked his way under #66 Kyle Clegg to grab the lead, Clegg dove back down under Medina but couldn’t make the pass stick. Another attempt from Clegg caused Medina to spin which resulted in a 4 position penalty for the #66 car. This allowed #22 Chris Eggleston and the #58 of Kyle Ray to have their shot at passing Medina.

Another caution flag setup a wild restart as Ray, Eggleston, and Clegg, pushed by Medina for the lead. This didn’t sit well with Danny and he began a furious push back to the front.

All four drivers were giving it their all but Medina looked determined and was diving into turn 3 faster than any of them, using that strategy the #15 car regained the lead position.

Unfortunately for Ray his night ended when he had mechanical problems late in the race and pulled off the track.

Danny Medina earned his second straight win followed by Clegg and Eggleston. #6 Scotty Scott took home 4th, #34 Chris Cooper was 5th, #13 Pete Dellarco was 6th, Jace Hanson jumped in the #9 Legend car and brought home a 7th place finish, #85 Cole Mackwen was 8th, Rookie #1 Jereme Wall was 9th, and #3 Wayne Barlock Jr rounded out the top 10.

CARC Mod Coupes Last years CARC Mod Coupe track champion #34 Randy Whitman and multi-time champ #90 Frank Denning paced the field in the CARC Mod Coupe main event and when the green flag dropped Whitman jumped out to a large lead. However it was Super Late Model ace #95 Cris Muhler who vaulted from his 3rd row starting position to hound Whitman for the lead.

Muhler powered around Whitman to take the lead and he never looked back cruising to his first win of the 2013 season. Whitman was close behind in 2nd place, Denning came home in 3rd spot. #55 Gary Land who won the last time out took 4th spot and #12 Jamie Bubak took the final spot in the top 5.
