Hilton holds off Vanderwal to win a thrilling Pro Truck feature event

Snap-On Tools Pro Trucks #06 Adam Hilton and #33 Beau Kellogg paced the field for the Snap-On Tools Pro Truck feature event. Hilton took the early lead while a great battle heated up for 2nd place between Kellogg and #34 Rudy Vanderwal. After Vanderwal cleared Kellogg he set his sights on race leader Hilton and began to reel him in.

A mid race caution was displayed when #11 Steve Johnson made contact with the #36 of Matt “the Pebble” Burton. The double-file restart gave Vanderwal his shot at Hilton for the lead. However, Hilton was perfect on the restart and kept Vanderwal at bay.

Behind the two leaders #41 Mark Neff, #27 Roger “the ice-man” Avants, and #7 Adam Deines, were having a great battle of their own for 3rd spot.

With just 10 laps to go Rudy was poking his nose under Hilton trying everything he could to take the win but Adam was not giving an inch as the two drivers thrilled the crowd. On the final lap of the race Rudy gave it one last shot and dove under Hilton in turn 3. Yet when Rudy’s truck began to push up into Hilton he backed off to avoid contact and Hilton went on to take the hard-fought win. Vanderwal did hang on for 2nd spot and is now just 2 points behind #41 Mark Neff in the season standings. Neff finished the race 3rd, Avants 4th, and Deines 5th.

SUNOCO Fuels Grand American Modifieds With #21 Jeff Hunter and #77 Jeff Hansen starting on the front row of the Grand American Modified feature it might seem as if it would be a 2 car race for the win. Yet it was 11r Darren Robertson who provided the biggest challenge for eventual race winner Jeff Hunter.

Hunter grabbed the lead early and built a huge lead on Hansen in 2nd as the #77 had his hands full with Robertson who was battling for position. Robertson was able to work his way around Hansen but now had a massive deficit to make up on race leader Hunter. As the laps ticked down Robertson was slowly working his way up to Hunter’s bumper. Hunter was very fast but also extremely loose coming out of turn 4 which gave opportunity to Robertson to make a move for the win.

On the final corner of the final lap Darren dove his black and orange 11r modified under Hunter and the two cars crossed the finish line side by side! The crowd roared in appreciation of an exiting finish but when the dust settled Hunter had held off Darren to take the win. Hunter has a 13 point lead in the season standings over Hansen with just 2 races left to decide the 2013 GAM championship.

Race Central Media Legend Cars Another massive field of Legend cars showed up at CNS and with nearly 30 cars starting the feature the race went green from start to finish testifying to the skill of the drivers. Track champion #66 Kyle Clegg who surprisingly has not visited winner’s circle yet this season at CNS jumped out to a massive lead at the start of the race. From that point on the challenge was to see if #06 Mike Gallegos and #58 Kyle Ray could eat away at Clegg’s large lead. Try as they might Clegg’s determined driving style made him the class of the field and he went on unchallenged to take the win. Gallegos settled for 2nd, Ray came across the line 3rd, #34 Chris Cooper was 4th, and #22 Chris Eggleston was 5th. Eggleston maintains the top spot in the season standings by just 7 points over young and rising star Chris Cooper.
