Monster Truck Show wraps up a HUGE Father’s Day double-event at CNS

Sunday’s Action

Sunday was the annual Super Sunday father’s Day Monster-Fest Monster truck show at CNS and the day was filled with metal twisting fire berating action (literally). Bounty Hunter, Wrecking Crew, Avenger, Iron Outlaw, Ice Cream Man, and the Shagman put on a world-class monster truck show and Megasaraus devoured an expensive late model import. The Jet Powered Smart Car entertained the crowd. There were also motorcycle stunt riders, dune buggy races, and Colorado national Speedway’s infamous DEMOX!

Saturday’s Action…

Gillet Vet Super Late Models #7 Adam Deines had the pole position for the Gillet Vet Clinic Super Late Model feature event yet it was the familiar black and green number 12 of Bruce “the Moose” Yackey who powered his way to a large lead early in the race. As the laps ticked away #31 Rick Smith began to reel in Yackey but Smith had a battle on his own hands with #6 Dominic Ursetta who proved he was fast enough to win by setting quick time with a 16.075. Unfortunately for Smith and Ursetta Yackey’s lead was so large only a caution flag would allow them to catch Yackey and that’s exactly what they got when #14 Mark Bybee spun down the back straight. On the restart Smith found the bite he was looking for and blew by Yackey as if he were shot from a cannon. Yackey remained in 2nd until the final corner of the final lap when Ursetta pulled up next to him and poked his once past Bruce to take 2nd place by mere inches. With the win Smith leads Yackey in the season points chase by a single point. Finishing behind Smith, Ursetta, and Yackey in the race was the the pole-sitter Deines and #11 Darren Robertson who grabbed the final spot in the top 5.

NTC logistics Super Stocks

UPDATE: Super Stock #33 Bear Lynch was disqualified for an illegal shock absorber therefore the feature win is awarded to #46 Rick Lothert.

A rare 40 lap Super Stock main event was on tap for Rocky’s Autos NASCAR “Knockout” and clearly the car to beat was the #33 of Bear Lynch who had set quick time and won the FAST DASH. However Lynch would have to start all the way back in 9th spot therefore he had his work cut out for him. Last year’s Rookie of the Year 6x Josh Parker was the fastest car early as he mounted a huge lead on the rest of the field. It took Bear Lynch half of the race to eventually catch Parker out front yet Parker wasn’t about to move over and give Bear the win, the two drivers battled for position for several laps until Lynch was able to ultimately take the spot from Parker using the inside lane. With the pass Lynch was able to complete his full sweep of the event as well as extend his point lead over 2nd place #13 Jason Morris.

Race Central Media Legends #22 Chris Eggleston jumped out to an early lead in the Race Central Media Legend Car feature event but he had a pack of cars on his bumper chomping at the bit to grab the lead. #58 Kyle Ray, #15 Danny Medina, #06 Mike Gallegos, #66 Kyle Clegg and #34 Chris Cooper were all battling for position behind the leader. Medina’s win streak in the Legends division came to an end when his car spread oil on the track and was forced to retire. Ray was able to get by Eggleston for the lead and never looked back as he went on to take the checkered flag. Medina’s misfortune also cost him dearly in the points chase as he gave up his large lead by dropping out of the race. The new points leader is now Eggleston who leads Medina by 6 points with young Chris Cooper close behind in 3rd spot.
